The Wooden Camera Dual Director's Monitor Cage v3from Wooden Camera Dual Director's Monitor Cage v3accepts virtually any LCD on-camera monitor up to 9", allowing it to be securely held and carried by a director or anyone who needs to have a personal monitor during a shoot. Featuring dual carbon fiber handgrips, aluminum rods, a padded neck strap, and a swing-away design for easy access to the back, this cage makes carrying a small monitor both simple and comfortable.

The cage is based on a universal plate system that mounts your monitor using 1/4"-20 mounting points on the side, top, or bottom of your monitor. In addition to holding your monitor, the cage allows for the mounting of a separately available V-mount or Gold mount plate for battery power, and it also leaves plenty of room for wireless equipment, so you can remain untethered on set.

This is the third version of the Wooden Camera Director's Monitor Cage, which features mounting capability for the Convergent Design Odyssey or Apollo monitor/recorder and comes with a collapsible sun hood. When mounted in the cage, access to your monitor's front panel controls remain unimpeded. A built-in Baby pin receiver makes for easy mounting onto a C-stand.

A: Once you tighten the screw the Wooden Camera Bottom Bracket for Director's Monitor Cage v3 will not move. Over the day you will need to continually tighten it given that people are most likely handling the monitor via touch screen or rotating it on the baby stand.

A: This is not a form-fitted cage, but it will work with the Shinobi 7.

Q: 4. Does this come with the swing away bracket and 15mm rods?

[2.305 lb] Well made and flexible monitor cage. Neck strap is comfortable with the weight of the monitor, wireless receiver and v-lock battery mount I ordered (Wooden Camera WC V-Mount Battery Plate (Dual D-Tap)) . I like the sun screen can warp around the monitor and cage for storage. 5

[2.305 lb] I have been looking around for a long time for just that product. It's not expensive and adds great value to your production. I use it with my Atomos Shogun Inferno coupled with a Teradek Bolt 500XT and the Wooden Camera VMount adapter (I had to buy this one directly from WC's website as B&H doesn't carry this product, unfortunately) and everything fits perfectly. This is great overall when you are conducting interviews for big clients and don't want to have them peak at your on-camera monitor which is usually crowded with information that they don't need. Also great to have an assistant pull focus from afar. Don't spend more, this is what you need. 5

[2.305 lb] Even with wireless video transmission becoming more integrated with monitors, I still prefer the modularity of the Wooden Camera directors monitor design. I can pair any wireless video receiver I want with whatever monitor I want. And when a better version comes out I can swap one of the elements. The handles are sturdier than the SmallHD monitor handles (though do be sure to tighten the screws super tight or the handle can slip off) and the strap attaching at four spots is so much better than only two attaching on in the middle of the SmallHD ones. The back swing opens to have better access to receiver settings and cables that you can hide tidily once you close the door. I do wish the swing back opened without having to essentially completely unscrew one of the sides so much, but a small compromise. All in all Wooden Camera lives up to its reputation and the cage is super light which is great because the v-mount batteries definitely are not! A great directors monitor cage or base for an AC kit with wireless follow focus. 5

[Black] This cage is perfect for me when I travel and I keep the Metabones adapter locked in at all times. Folding handle is nice for fitting in my bag. I've used it as a vertical grip a few times but it's most useful as a top handle. I wish it came with an HDMI adapter but oh well. 5
