Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I'd like to use this lens on a nikon z50 aps-c camera. What horizontal and vertical angles of view can I expect to see? Tom W

A: You should get about a 16mm field of view. So it's still pretty wide.

Q: 2. Can the aperture be controlled by a dead adapter like the FotodioX Pro TLT ROKR Tilt-Shift Adapter for Nikon F Lens to Sony E?

A: The aperture in the IRIX 11mm f/4 Firefly Lens is only controlled electronically. So the Fotodiox tilt/shift adapter would not be able to control the aperture.

Q: 3. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: No. The TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8 is not weather-sealed.

Q: 4. Anyone using this with a c100 mkii? If so, thoughts?

A: The IRIX 11mm f/4 Blackstone Lens for Canon EF is an excellent choice for someone interested in a super wide angle rectilinear lens for the C100 Mk II Digital Cinema Camera. The rectilinear design limits image distortion and the lens uses a positive lock mechanism that will make it easier to pull focus consistently and accurately.

Q: 5. Can someone please explain or help me to understand how to read the hyperfocal scale on this lens? I have never had a problem using hyperfocal scales on any of my other lenses, but this one is quite perplexing to me, there are so many values on it.

A: If you are old school and know how to use the hyperfocal scale on manual lenses, then work as you have before. If you wish, you can also use the innovative hyperfocal indication line but really it is meant for others. That is because, ever since auto focus lenses came into use, they have mostly come without manual aperture scales since they had no place for the scales to be applied. Therefore a generation of photographers has grown up not knowing what they are for or how to use them. With Irix's hyperfocal line, the new user determines what aperture they are using, moves the focus ring to line up the aperture number on the Irix hyperfocal line with the lens focus mark. Then they look to the aperture numbers on the traditional scale to see the hyperfocal distance or the area that is in acceptable focus. To old users it is not necessary, to new users it is very helpful.

Q: 6. Why does this lens have electronics? Is the aperture electronically controlled?

A: Per the manual: The lens aperture is operated electronicallythrough the camera.

Q: 7. Is the aperture ring with click ?

A: Yes.

Q: 8. is it compatible with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K Pro?

A: Yes, IRIX 11mm f/4 Firefly Lens for Canon EF is compatible with Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro. Both products are desing with Canon EF mount.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with an RF adapter on a Canon RF body? I read somewhere that it requires a firmware update installed by IRIX.

A: The IRIX 11mm f/4 Firefly Lens for Canon EF can be adapted to a Canon R-series mirrorless camera, but the operation would be fully manual, and there would be no EXIF data. No firmware update is needed since it is entirely manual.

Q: 10. How is the iris controlled on a Nikon F-mount camera? Is there a 'G' style control lever? Or is it purely electronically controlled?

A: The aperture is electronically controlled.
