Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Has anyone used this to create negatives from digital files on an Epson Stylus 1400 Photo Printer?

A: I've not used the OHP film on your particular printer, but I have used it on other Epson printers to create digital negs over the years. The film will probably work fine with all printers, but the subtle quality of the negative will depend on how sophisticated your printer's color density settings allow you to be. This film is worth the extra cost, though, compared to less expensive brands. Heavier film will feed better.

Q: 2. Will it print in color or only B&W ?

A: Prints color great - no worries

Q: 3. Do you print with glossy or matte ink for negatives?

A: I use matte black on my Epson R3000. I use pictorico for digital negatives that are used to make contact prints.

Q: 4. I'm looking for the most transparent film in the pictorico range - as clear as possible - what would folks recommend?

A: Although I can not directly answer this question because I don't know if there is a clarity range on this product, I can offer some general usage info. I have used both 8 1/2x11 and 17x22 sizes to print high resolution digital negatives from my Epson 3880 for alternative processes (contact prints, cyanotypes, VanDyke Brown prints). These photos were submitted for MFA photography courses and I can assure you that this is a high-quality product with excellent tonal ranges and finest details visible in highlights, shadows and midtones.

Q: 5. Does anyone have experience using this film with Canon printers? I have a Pixma iX6820 using 250 (PGBK) and 251 (BK) inks, and want to make large cyanotype contact prints.

A: Yes, Pictorico works really well with canon printers! Works well for cyanotypes, vandykes, and gum prints!

Q: 6. Is this film clear and transparent? Will it hold Epson matte black ink for photopolymer intaglio plate exposure to UV light?

A: I bought this product a couple of years ago to make digital negatives and it worked great running through a printer and using it in a UV light box. Yes it is clear and transparent. Hope this helps!

Q: 7. Is this film is crital clear?

A: No! it has a milky look. For clear film consider getting the Inkpress Clear Film follow link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/695513-REG/Inkpress_CF851120_Clear_Film_5_mil.html

Q: 8. Is it TPS100?

A: I don't know. I don't re3ally understand the question.

Q: 9. First time with a roll of Pictorico. Which side of the roll do you print on? Common sense tells me inside?

A: It is naturally fed by roll printers and will print on the outside.

Q: 10. Does this paper look milky or is it transparent?

A: It looks milky when viewed by reflective light, transparent when viewed by transmitted light.

[1x Film Roll] I used it for a large positive transparency and a negative of the same image that will hang in a gallery window during my solo show. Printed effortlessly with a Canon 24 printer with the Glossy paper setting.

[Glossy] best choice for digital negatives, especially because much less prone to curling than other materials such as agfa copyjet, resulting in much more reliability and fewer damaged negatives due to film-to-printhead conflict.

[Glossy] I've started experimenting with light boxes / transparencies and I've been quite pleased with Pictorico's paper. I don't have any qualms with it (as of yet).

[1x Film Roll] I use this for making contact negs for wet printing, either from digital files or from 8X10 negatives. The only problem I've had is feeding it into my Epson 3880: it wants to feed sideways and jam unless it's carefully positioned and fed.
