Leverages 30 years of lineage to create the latest in the OC9 series cartridge; the Audio-Technica Consumer AT-OC9XML is a dual moving coil stereo cartridge with a Microlinear stylus that is highly prized by vinyl enthusiasts and professional critics for its musical transparency, expression of sound, and precision construction.

The dual moving coil cartridge features a Microlinear stylus, which is designed to provide outstanding channel separation, while the Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting (PCOCC) coils ensure pure audio transmission and are aligned in a reverse V-shaped formation to exert less pressure on the stylus, thereby minimizing distortion. Other enhancements include a rigid aluminum body that reduces resonance, a neodymium magnet, and premium permendur yoke that dramatically increases the magnetic energy, ensuring rich, full-range audio with a high transient response. The AT-OC9XML comes pre-threaded, enabling it to be mounted to a headshell or integral tonearm with just two screws (no nuts required). Also included are a non-magnetic screwdriver, mounting hardware (screws and washers), a plastic protector, and a brush.

A: I have a Pyle PDM MIC 58 which essentially the same mic as this one. The mic does not come wired as a balanced mic but I found this video where you can perform a simple mod. Go to youtube and search for Pyle PDMIC78 Microphone - SM-57 Knockoff it's posted by a guy named Bob H.If you are making a short run (less than 20 feet) to your mixer or input source, you may not even need to balance it though. I have been using mine with the supplied 15 foot xlr to 1/4 mono cable and it sounds great into my Zoom H1 recorder. This is a great value and instead of everyone asking why this is so much less than the Shure SM57, the question should be why is the SM57 so expensive?I have one of these in my cart and will be getting one with my next order to go along with the PD MIC 58.

[0.3 oz / 7.6 g] I did a lot of research on cartridges as I was starting out with a new system (Technics SL-1210GR) and wanted the most bang for my Buck. Article after article this was highly praised and the reviewers were right on the money! I have a relatively high end digital system and DAC, and my vinyl setup with this cartridge spanks the pants off of it. Highly recommended!

[1.0 dB (1 kHz)] My turntable came with the AT-VM95E and when it was ready for a replacement, I decided to upgrade. I didn't think there would be much difference but high vocals really came through cleaner than the previous. Overall I could tell a difference and the extra cost was definitely worth it, especially considering it lasts longer than the VM95E.

[Aluminum] This cartridge transformed my turntable! The vinyl sounds full and completely different from my old cartridge. I think the shibota needle helps make a huge difference. It gets into grooves that have never been used. The clarity is amazing!!

[Aluminum] Back in the day when Audio Technica released the AT-95 it was widely praised as a lively, dynamic alternative to the usual Shure M75EJ. Today the AT-VM95E is even more detailed and dynamic than before. Tight bass, clear open midrange and crisp treble offer a solid, rhythmic presentation of recorded music on vinyl. Its main rival today is probably Ortofon's OM 5E, offering similar performance at a higher price. The AT is audibly punchier and more foot-tapping than the Ortofon. If you have a bigger budget consider stepping up to the $150-$20 price range for a significant overall improvement.

[0.3 oz / 7.6 g] The quality of the sound in my Thorens turntable is the best it’s ever been. Even the oldest vinyl sounds wonderful. I’m hearing rich and beautiful sound exactly as it was created, noticing instruments I hadn’t even heard before.

And as highly as I recommend this cartridge, I recommend all the good folks at B&H. A special shout out to Aaron, who provided great customer service.
