The Polsen BCPM-A2 In-Ear Monitor Amplifier Belt Clipis a compact and lightweight personal in-ear monitor amplifier that puts volume-boosting monitor control for headphones right at your fingertips. Ideal for keyboardists or drummers who stay in one spot while performing, the BCPM-A2 will deliver the audio feed you need without excessive cabling or clutter.

Designed as the active version of the Polsen BCPM-1, the BCPM-A2 is powered by two AAA batteries (available separately). The active amplifier circuitry gives you the advantage of boosting the input signal when you need extra volume in your headphones. Plus, the mono/stereo switch lets you choose the monitoring mode that matches your input source. The convenient belt clip ensures the BCPM-A2 won't be in the way while you play.

The BCPM-A2 features a combo input jack that accepts either XLR or 1/4" connectors, and the locking XLR connector guards against accidental disconnects on stage or in the studio. This road-worthy personal monitor amplifier is constructed with a durable metal chassis that can take the bumps and impacts of travel and stage performance.

The BCPM-A2 is an active device and runs on two AAA batteries. This gives the advantage of boosting the incoming signal with the active amplifier. If you need a little more level than the source is giving you, just turn up the volume.

The internal mono/stereo switch lets you select the mode that meets your needs. Select stereo when you connect to a headphone output or other stereo source. Select mono when you connect to a single-channel source such as a mono aux send from a mixer.

The volume knob / power switch is positioned at the end of the BCPM-A2 where it's easy to reach, even without looking. If you're sitting behind a keyboard or drum kit, changing the monitoring volume in your headphones is trickier than it sounds. If you can't walk over to the headphone amp or give the "more volume" sign to the sound engineer, the BCPM-A2 is for you. It puts a volume knob right at your belt, so you can dial in the perfect monitor level any time you need it.

Because monitoring is so critical to your performance, the XLR jack features a locking mechanism to prevent the connector from accidentally disconnecting—like if there's a little tug, or even if someone trips over your cable. When you're done, just press the locking tab to disconnect. Not using an XLR cable? No problem. The BCPM-A2's combo jack accepts 1/4" connectors, too.

Use your favorite studio or monitoring headphones, earbuds, or in-ear monitors. The standard stereo 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack accepts them all.

Thanks to the BCPM-A2's compact and lightweight design, you'll forget it's there until you need to adjust your volume. The monitor is made with a sturdy metal chassis that can take the bumps of travel and live stage performance.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this passive version also have a mono / stereo switch inside?

A: No, both R&L Volume adjust together with one dial.

Q: 2. Could this amp power a small, shoulder mounted portable two way radio speaker?

A: This item is a Headphone amplifier, It does not power anything, It does not work with 2 way radios.

Q: 3. phantom power?

A: No, this is a headphone amplifier. You would not connect a microphone directly to it.

Q: 4. If I get the correct cables could I send the signal from a crosley turntable to this, then to a receiver? The ol' yamaha is running down at -18db to be able to hear the records at a decent volume from the passive speakers it's driving... I need it amped up a bit before it gets there methinks.

A: I can't answer from knowledge of the specific turntable, but every phono I've ever known for the past 40 years requires a phono preamp for two reasons. 1) The signal level is way, way too low for directly connecting to a headphone amp or any line-level device. 2) Most importantly phonographs are all recorded with a very treble-skewed EQ according to the standard RIAI curve, a phono preamp is designed to nullify that curve by being exactly opposite towards a heavy bass response. In short, there is no substitute for a phono preamp. Make sure it is labeled and defined as phono preamp.

Q: 5. Mono?

A: This is Mono/Stereo switchable.

Q: 6. Where is the switch that flips it from 'Mono' to 'Stereo?' The manual shows it near the volume knob, but there's nothing there.

A: According to page 03 in the manual, the mono/stereo switch is inside of the battery compartment. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/836189.pdf

Q: 7. Is the silver screw in the picture a 1/4 20? I'm thinking this might work with my PCM-M10. Thank you!

A: No, it isn't that large. I don't have the exact size, though.

Q: 8. can this be used with earbuds ?and what microfone would bee best ?

A: This can be used with earbuds. The type of mic would depend on what you are doing with it. For a live vocal performance situation, here's a general mic recommendation: B&H # SEE945.

Q: 9. Can i use this with an H1 or H1N recorder?

A: Unfortunately, no, the BCF-1 Belt Clip uses a mounting screw that is not compatible with the H1 and H1n.

Q: 10. Does stereophonic signal from the input is being amplified and delivered to the stereophonic headphones output?

A: Yes, the Polsen BCPM-A2 Active Belt Clip Personal In-Ear Monitor Amplifier is switchable for mono or stereo input signal. When set for stereo mode, a stereo input signal will be sent to the headphone output as a stereo signal. Set the mode switch accordingly based on the input signal.

[0.5 Ohms] As lead singer for Hypnotik, an in ear system was so needed for stage volume control and we were on a tight budget. The Polsen did wonders for the band

[0.5 Ohms] I Purchased (4) of these for a Streaming studio project and am VERY happy with them. They are well designed and work really well. As they are active, they require batteries which we the manufacturer was thoughtful enough to include (2) AAA batteries, so they can be used right out of the box. I would definitely recommend this product.

[0.5 Ohms] There are a ton of expensive wireless in-ear systems out there for performers to hear themself without having to lug huge monitors around that take up stage space. But as a bass player I really didn't need a wireless system as I was tethered by my guitar chord already. I first looked at passive belt clip style wired types but settled for a battery powered active wired unit. It worked really well straight out of the box. I could select mono or stereo. It was compact and easy to use and I could boost the volume if the band got louder. But we generally found as all the members switched to in-ear units, our stage volume was noticeably quieter.
I would strongly recommend this neat and compact unit.

[7.3 x 3.5 x 2"] Ill first start by saying that this amplifier has a nice sturdy metal build. While there are many uses for this device I am using it along side my mixer board. Sometimes I need an extra headphone out and this works well. I just took a long 1/4 cable and plugged it into one of my mono outs and then into this Polsen amplifier. Since it is a mono source you can simply move the internal switch from stereo to mono. That way you can have sound in both of your headphones. So far it works great for the way that I'm using it and its plenty loud. Just be careful when sliding the case back on as you can accidentally pinch some exposed wires that hang near the battery tray. The only thing I have not tested is how long the batteries will last as you will need batteries to operate it. This would be a great option for live performers or someone like me who just needed an extra headphone out.
