Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this developer (D-76) be used for one time or for few rolls of film?

A: I use it in a 5 roll can then throw it out. I do use my film Fix again as paper fix if its not more than a couple of days between uses

Q: 2. Do Kodak chemicals work with all films or is it Kodak specific?

A: It works on all film. I have mainly used Ilford film along with Kodak in this developer and it works great with all varieties of film from both companies. Just be sure to look up the proper developing times for each film.

Q: 3. How does this compare to the original HC110, are the dilutions from concentrate the same?

A: The dilution is not exactly the same as the original. The best thing is to do a test run or two to hone in on the best mix, time and temp for the film you are using.

Q: 4. How does it differ from the fixer that it replaced?

A: Hi--no changes were made to the product, but the packaging and wholesale arrangements were changed slightly.

Q: 5. is this 1:4 used for film?

A: Yes, this Kodak Professional Fixer can be used for black and white film development at a 1:3 dilution.

Q: 6. What is the dilution ratio from concentrate when developing 100 Tmax and 400 Tmax? Also what is a standard development time?

A: Click the link below to view the Kodak product sheet showing dilution and dev tiems; https://imaging.kodakalaris.com/sites/uat/files/wysiwyg/pro/chemistry/j24.pdf

Q: 7. can you use this developer with illford hp5 plus film? If so, how long and what's the agitation like?

A: Yes, you can use Kodak Professional T-MAX Film Developer on any B&W, such as Ilford HP5 Plus Black and White Negative Film. The instruction for developing time is on the bottle label. The developing time is base on your film ISO.

Q: 8. Can I use Foma Fomafix for XTOL?

A: Yes. Kodak Professional XTOL Film Developer can be used with Fomafix.

Q: 9. Can I mix this powder 1L at a time? If so, what is the suggested method for preserving XTOL powder after the package has been opened?

A: No. Highly suggest mixing all at once with 1 gallon of water.

Q: 10. Can this be used for developing black and white paper prints?

A: While technically film developer can be used to develop prints, its concentration/strength is significantly weaker and you would get very different developing times, contrast, etc. Your mileage may vary. It's best to stick to the appropriate developer for best results.

[2.95 lb] I started using TMAX developer in high school, back in the late 1980's. When processing TMAX films there's nothing better. I have never cared for what it does to TRI-X or PLUS-X (I use HC-110 for those emulsions).

[2.95 lb] I don't develop frequently and therefore like this developer for its convenience as it allows me to mix one shot working solution for just the amount of volume I need, instead of having to make large volume and then throw it away if unused for a while.

[Liquid] I use this a lot on expired TMax 100 and 400 film, and the results are always great. Really solid developer for those films. And easy to mix since it's just a 1:4 (or 1+4) dev-to-water ratio.

[2.95 lb] Probably my favourite liquid developer. I hope Kodak keeps producing their darkroom chemistry, it’s always very consistently good.

[Liquid] The new formula worked just as good if not better than the old one. I did dilution B with the old times (5 min at 68 F) and it worked great.
