To address the particular demands of hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts—especially those who glass across vast distances like the prairies of the American West—Celestron 12x50 Nature DX ED Binocularsoffers the 12x50 Nature DX ED Binoculars. They deliver bright high-contrast images with accurate true-to-life color and crisp clarity even when observing from long distances.

To achieve this optical performance, these binoculars feature antireflection fully multicoated extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass lenses with phase-corrected BAK4 roof prisms. The angle of view is generous and despite the powerful magnification, these binoculars can focus as close as 8.2 feet for observing nearby birds, insects, or flowers. Additional features like a long eye relief and wide exit pupils improve viewing comfort while reducing eyestrain, so long glassing sessions are more pleasurable.

The chassis is made of lightweight, durable polycarbonate, and the optical tubes are nitrogen=filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and resistant to internal fogging. For those long days in your blind or in the field, or if you just want to eliminate arm fatigue or hand shake, the Nature DX ED binoculars can be mounted to a tripod using an optional adapter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the warranty on these celestron 12x50 nature DX ED ?

A: The Celestron 12x50 Nature DX ED Binoculars BH #CE12X50NDXED • MFR #72336 have a limited lifetime warranty.

Q: 2. Where are the binoculars made?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 3. I purchased a pair of 10x50 Celestron Nature DX ED binoculars and the Celestron Binocular Tripod Adapter. It is not obvious how to connect them, since each of these has a male 1/4-20 screw. There is not a female-to-female adapter to connect them, except for a very thin nut, which may or may not be 1/4-20 (it is very loose on the male threads). Is there a more detailed diagram showing how to mount the binoculars on the tripod adapter?

A: I figured out the problem. The logo cap that is described in the manual is firmly attached to the binocular's female threaded screw. Thus, when I tried to remove the logo cap the female threaded screw was coming off with the logo cap. Once I was able to separate the logo cap from the female threaded screw (with quite a bit of effort), I was able to thread the screw back onto the binoculars, allowing the tripod mount to be attached. Unfortunately the manuals provided by Celestron don't show enough detail for the user to see what the female threaded screw should look like.

Q: 4. Does a carry case and strap come with the binoculars?

A: Yes. The Nature DX binoculars come with a carry case, neck strap and protective lens covers. Very nice product. Patrick L.

Q: 5. How does the Celestron Lifetime Warranty compare to the Carson or Vortex No Questions... type warranty?

A: The Celestron Warranty is a Limited Lifetime. So it only covers against defects. The No Questions asked warranty from Carson and Vortex cover against accidental damage, as well as Manufacturer Defects.

Q: 6. What is the diopter adjustment range? The listed specs just states "yes" and the DX ED model says -3 to +3.

A: They do not state a numeric value for the diopter. It is adjustable but just + or - with no numbers.

Q: 7. ? tripod adapter

A: Yes this model can take a Tripod Adapter. If you look under the accessories recommended for this binocular it will show a section that says mounting click on that, and it will show you all the compatible tripod adapters. A nice model is the Field Optics Research Rapid-Release Binocular Adapter. Website link: a href= http://bhpho.to/1ydlpb6 target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1ydlpb6/a

Q: 8. Would this work for night time football?

A: Yes of course its going to be under the lights anyway

Q: 9. My husband and I are going on a safari and these binoculars were recommended. Are they a good fit for safari or should I be looking at others?

A: I bought a pair of these two years ago, mostly for use at our country retreat outside Ithaca, NY. Deciding factor was the close focusing ability, though they are fine at a distance, as well. They seem virtually equal to a pair of Eagle binoculars I got for a birthday present some six years ago. Only thing about roof prisms is they provide less stereo separation at a distance. But issues like color fringing, collimation are negligible. A very good value. Was just watching a flock of cedar waxwings eating hawthorn blossoms with gusto.

Q: 10. Why does it say "close-to-midrange observations"? Does it mean that it is not recommended for infinity focus (e.g. stars)?

A: It will not focus closer than 6.5 feet it will focus to infinity but magnification is only 8X If you want longer range consider 10X

[5 mm] I’ve had these for a couple weeks and like them so far. This is my first pair of $50 binoculars. I got these for some night sky viewing and some backyard bird watching. So far I’ve enjoyed sharp views of the moon with no chromatic abberation. I’ve also spotted a couple of the Gallilean moons of Jupiter from a fairly urban area outside of Washington DC. I like the wide field of view. The weight is significant, so for extentended viewing its necessary to brace against something. Quick views are pretty easy though.

[Roof (BAK4)] The sleek roof prism design allows for easier hold especially on frosty nights. The optics are excellent for astro objects at night and any daytime sight. The included strap fits well behind the coat collar for comfortable viewing and the easy to open/close water resistant case is a real bonus. Lens caps are flexible and fit very well...hope not to lose them as they slot fit onto the strap. Bought as a replacement for some really ancient 8 x 40s and could not be happier with these 12x50 DX ED binoculars that are a real joy to use. Can't believe what I've been missing!

[Center] I was looking for a good, relatively inexpensive binocular for hiking and traveling. This Celestron is fairly light weight, has lens covers that will be very hard to mislay or lose, a great field of view and a diopter adjustment for my unequal eyes. Very satisfied with my purchase.
