The Canon 52mm 250D Close-up Lens for Macro Photographyfrom Canon is for quick and easy close-up photography. The close-up lens is screwed on to the front of a lens like a filter. Close-up lens 250D has two achromatic elements to correct chromatic aberrations. It does not degrade the high optical performance of EF lenses.

It is better when coupled with a fixed focal/prime lens and best when combined with macro lenses. [+4] I noticed no change in optical quality using it on a canonef 50mm 1.8 with superb results. For only 80 bucks you can begin a new style of photographythat would normally cost much more. make sure you read the specs to purchase the appropriate250D or 500D for your lens. Expertise: Avid photographer Problems Encountered: My product out of the box had some scuff marks on the outermetal parts. pure aesthetic, lens is fine. heavy for afilter but not really a problem. Items I Recommend: normal to short telephoto lens. 5

[52 mm] I bought this lens to attach onto my 50mm f/1.8 lens to use for macro photos before I decide to spend money on a dedicated macro lens. I was really happy with the sharpness of the photos and how much of the frame I could fill with an object. It is threaded on the front, so you can add any filters or a threaded lens hood if you need to. If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative to buying a macro lens, this is the right choice for you. 5

[52 mm] I have used The Canon 250D and 500D Close-up lenses in the 77mm, 72mm and 58mm sizes with a number of lenses (Nikon & Fujinon mounts) and if you work with the limitations and parameters of this screw-on, somewhat heavy, filter-like attachment, and attach it to a very sharp lens, the results can be stunning. Unlike a macro lens, you are limited to a narrow focus range of just a few inches, so you cannot use it for macro and then turn and snap a photo of something 10 feet away without removing it. Another tip is that you can't stack it on top of another filter, as this moves the glass away from the front element of your lens and changes the optical formula. The 250D and the 500D cover different focal ranges, so be sure and get the one that is appropriate for your lens. This particular 52mm model, I use on my Zeiss Touit 32mm, mounted on my Fujifilm XE-2. (see pics) 5

[52 mm] Very effective, sturdy and well made lens with a very good depth of resolution. I have a Canon 80D and used it initially on my Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens. I have since ordered an adapter to use it on my EF 50mm f/1.8 STM (Nifty Fifty) lens. However, you do have to get closer to the subject of the shot and range of focus is very limited, so things can get a bit hairy. However, it's a very interesting and entertaining learning experience and if you persist, you can get some great pictures. I ended up with some very revealing shots of how a spider traps and kills it's victim (on my basement staircase, which I was under orders to clean!). Now for the Nifty Fifty. Thoroughly recommended. 5

[Close-Up] I bought this to use with a Canon EF 50mm 1.8 lens and it works wonderfully for macro photography. Image quality does not change with adding this lens and maintains its sharp details. Works best with manual focus and tripod but that's true with any macro lens 5

[52 mm] The canon 250d is a great, affordable way to get into macro photography. It does it's job very well. I had a 500d for my telephoto lens, but upgraded lenses, and the 500d didn't fit the new lens. So bought this 250d to use with my Nikkor 35mm af-s lens. If anybody wants to dabble into macro photography, but doesn't want to pay an arm and leg, I recommend this product hands down. 5
