A: This unit works on my Logan 301-1 Compact Classic Mat Cutter. It cuts straight and true, but recommend making several draws of the blade rather than trying to make the cut in a single stroke. If the blade bits too hard and binds it will pull the mat out of alinement. Also make several practice cut so as to learn where to place the line you wish to follow. The line should be very close to the guide but it is not precisely next to the guide (1/32 out from the guide).

Q: 6. can you also use this for general dry mounting tissue straight cutting?

A: Jay K. responded no , but I can't see why it wouldn't. With a sharp enough blade in the straight cutter the edge would act like any other straight edge. As with mat board, I would use the slip board underneath for the best chance at a good cut. You might try overlaying a thin veneer material to hold the material in place as well.Also, I have been cutting 8 ply mat board easily with ease on this tool. I soon learned to forget using the sliding cutting guide. It's ability to square with precision is useless - accurately measure and mark, then align with the the cutter bar works every time.

Q: 7. It says 32” mat cutter. Is this the overall size of the mat or can it cut up to 32” opening on the mat?

A: Hi. This means it has a 32" capacity between the hinges. You can insert the 32" side of a full sheet of mat board into the cutter but not the 40" side. I hope that helps. Thanks.

A: Check Logan on this but think maybe not. The glass cutter uses a rail slot used on the Team Systems, Compact Series, Artist Elite, and Simplex series mat cutters. The 660 is a Framers series that uses a completely different rail. I have both the 350 Compact and the 450 Artist and works on those.

Q: 9. Is this plastic or metal like the bevel cutter?

A: The Logan Graphic Products 701-1 Straight Cutter Elite is made with resin.
