The .55x Reversible Wide-Angle Adapter is the first dual purpose lens accessory. When attached to the lens front in one direction, the .55x performs like Century's other high quality wide-angle adapters, offering a significantly wider angle of view, with minimal distortion. Used with the Sony VX-1000, the .55x provides a horizontal viewing angle of 73 degrees (93 degrees measured diagonally).

When you want to go "wow-em" wide with a fisheye effect, simply remove the .55x optical element, flip it around, and thread it on the other way. Voila! It becomes a fisheye adapter. Oriented this way, the .55x provides a wider angle pronounced barrel distortion. When used as a fisheye adapter on the Sony VX-1000, the 55x offers a horizontal viewing angle of 92 degrees and a diagonal viewing angle of 115 degrees.

The Digital Series is a family of high quality lenses available in a screw-on version with 58mm threads for use on camcorders and palmcorders, like the Panasonic AG-EZ1 or the AG-456. Step-up rings are also available for adapting to even smaller lens fronts.

A: There is a clear filter from Schneider that would fit. This would be your best option. (B&H # SCC102).

A: The Panasonic DVX200 has a filter thread of 72mm and the HVX200 has a 82mm. It would not work with the DVX200. A similar wide angle filter that would work with your Panasonic DVX200 would be the following model. A: I tried it on my Kowa anamorphics and couldn't get them to focus. I'll try it on my SuperSpeeds....

A: This adapter is only compatible with the Sony HDR-FX7 & HVR-V1U due to it having a specific bayonet connection. We are not aware of this being able to work with the VX1000.

Q: 9. Does the picture stay in focus down the zoom range

A: This is best for for shooting situations in which zooming need is minimized for this is a partial zoom adapter. It will allow zooming only from wide angle to mid-range and you must use auto focus mode. Also note: it has a bayonet mount meant for attaching it directly to the lens of the Sony HVR-Z7U and HVR-S270U.

Q: 10. Does it fit the Sony PXW-Z280 bayonet mount?

A: Unfortunately, the Century Precision Optics 0.75x HD Wide Angle Converter has a 72mm filter thread and the PXW-Z280 has a 77mm filter size.

[52 mm to 58 mm] I purchased this adapter for my HVX200. It allows me to capture the wide shots I have been unable to get with the stock lens. It's lending a personal feel to my shots and is a great storytelling tool for tight spaces. 5

[0.015 lb] I wanted this lens adapter for a while, had a client with the dvx size ring and always like the look it would give. The HVX size is definitely bigger (82mm) Having this tremendously helped my video out. I had to shoot inside a car and the only way I can achieve the tight image was with this W.A. lens. Can't wait to use it more. 5

[0.015 lb] Most wide angle adapters give you a .8 ratio, maybe .75. This .6 gives a radically wide shot with no vignetting. Great for shooting in tight locations or for group interviews. Also, even though it isn't designed to be a zoom through, you can tighten your shot a lot without losing focus. 5
