Helping to reduce reflections and glare, the Schneider 4x5.65" Circular Polarizer Filterfrom Schneider 4x5.65" Circular Polarizer Filteris a circular polarizer well-suited for cine applications. This filter suppresses reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface, which results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when working in hazy conditions. Compared to the traditional True-Pol linear polarizing filter, this circular polarizer is ideal for preventing viewfinder blackout when used with cameras featuring polarizing elements in the beam-splitter of their viewing system, such as the Arriflex 435 and MovieCam Compact.

The filter is constructed by laminating the polarizing film and a 1/4-wave retarder plate between two sheets of clear water-white optical glass. An Edge Seal process is then used to guard against edge chipping and delamination, as well as contribute to reducing edge reflections and flare.

A: A lens filter is made of the glass, the filter material, the ring and the coatings. The quality of each determines the quality of the filter. Both of these filters, ZEISS 82mm Carl ZEISS T* Circular Polarizer Filter B&H # ZEPOLF82 and the Hoya 82mm HD3 Circular Polarizer Filter B&H # HOCPHD382 are the best the manufacturers can make and they are of the best you can get for your lens and camera. Saying which is best is like which is better, a BMW or a Lexus? You will not go wrong with either of these beautifully made, thin profiled (no vignetting) optically perfect Polarizers. The only difference is the Zeiss does the normal 1.5 stop loss for a Pola whereas the Hoya claims only a 1.25 stop loss. For the vast majority of shooting situations with a Pola, I think that negligible but in certain situations it could be a valuable asset. You might be the type who likes to standardize on filter brands in which case since Hoya makes only filters, they do have a larger variety. Then again, maybe you only want one or two filters. Have fun.

Q: 5. Is there a lens cap or cover that I can put on this Zeiss 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter to protect it while I have it attached to my Zeiss Milvus 15mm/2.8 lens? The Zeiss Milvus lens cap (or a Nikon 95mm lens cap) does not snap on to the front of this polarizer filter.

A: The Lens Cap for the Milvus 2.8/15 lens does fit to the ZEISS 95mm Polarizing filter.

Q: 6. How many stops does this filter step down?

A: The manual provide by Nikon generically covers Neutral Color NC and Circular Polarizing Filter II at 82mm and 95mm. I have the 95mm. The Filter Factor for external exposure meters is 1-2 stops (per Table 2 of the manual).

A: The Nikon 77mm Circular Polarizer II Filter will be compatible with the Canon 24-105mm lens. The lens has a 77mm filter thread.

[0.435 lb] Even though you might think you don't need a polarizer for an ultra wide-angle as it will distort the sky, it has been exceedingly for me for reflections on foliage and water as well as reflections of windows. 5

[Glass] I purchased this because I could not afford the more expensive brands. I figured I was going to get what I paid for and have some regrets but to my amazement , it turned out to be very high quality glass!!! This heavy quality glass even comes nicely wraped on all four sides with a rubber seal which makes it easier to handle and protects against chips. It even comes wraped in a large velvet cloth and a impressive Velcro case that is padded. My photos are so much better now with day shots and it beautifully removes reflection in the water and really brings out the blues in the sky. This glass was worth every penny. I plan to buy more glass from this company soon!!! 5

[0.435 lb] Excellent! Easier to use than the screw-on filters. Works as advertised. However, if weight is a factor, this is not the way to go. Entire filter holder for wide-angle, 77mm adapter, and this glass filter are expensive, bulky and heavy. 5

[Glass] This is one of the only 2mm CPL filters available in 150x150mm. It does a fine job filtering out reflections and polarized light without reducing desirable light. It is not as dark as many other CPLs, and therefore may not appear as strong; (e.g. it won't make the contents of your computer screen disappear). That doesn't mean it's weak, though; it seems to do its job more efficiently than other filters, without sacrificing a lot of the non-polarized light in the scene, and therefore without tinting colors or causing other issues like some CPLs do. In other words, this is a really good CPL that will make you realize what a real CPL is supposed to do. If you're looking for a square polarizing filter and don't want to get a linear polarizer (as they don't work with autofocus), then this is an excellent choice. 5

[Glass] Needed this huge filter for an extreme wide angle lens and there are not many options to chose from so my expectations were tempered. I am very pleasantly surprised by the build quality and optical performance though. As long as you stick to the rules for using a polarizer on a wide angle lens I doubt you will be disappointed. 5
