Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this unit come with a power supply? My main intent for it is to put between my TT and Pioneer spc-1 preamp, because of the long distance between the two. I'll also use it to transfer some vinyl to computer, but for that purpose I believe the USB connection will power it.

A: The power supply is included with the USB Phono Plus.

Q: 2. will this work with a phono level turntable without a preamp?

A: Yes--this IS a preamp. It has RCA jacks IN (left and right stereo) and preamp OUT (also RCA jacks). And USB OUT to your computer. And headphone OUT with a volume control in order to monitor. It is a standard stereo mini jack (3.5mm), not 1/4 inch. The headphone level control does not affect the level of the USB out. You can also select Phone or Line INPUT on the front panel, with a GAIN control. I use it to record from a turntable with magnetic cartridge to my MAC computer, while I monitor the audio from the turntable with a stereo headset. Works like a charm.

Q: 3. will it work with windows 10?

A: Absolutely ... I've been using it on Win10 today on my system.

Q: 4. I'm using Cubase as DAW and Fireface UC . Can I connect Art TubeOpto 8 to Fireface and control/record all to Cubase?

A: Yes you can. I recommend attaching the Art via the ADAT out optical port to the ADAT in port on the FireFace. That will send all 8 channels digitally to the FireFace for recording into Cubase.

Q: 5. does this come with a usb cable?

A: no

Q: 6. how to bridge 4 speakers at 8 ohms?

A: I'm afraid I had to call the manufacturer in Canada - Alas now days weno longer have the luxury of manuals inside the box with the amp .I also have 4 speakers bridged at 8ohms but cannot remember theconfiguration with the connecting blocks.Once you get this set up you will be well pleased - This Is A terrific power amp - 10 stars PC LA

Q: 7. excuse me my email is my question is i have a focusrite 14 and a program call samplitude prox 2 how do i connect them? and do i need it?, i need more gain and mor quality audio.

A: The TubeOpto8 is an 8 channel mic preamp. This unit features an optical ADAT digital output that carries all 8 channels. Unfortunately the Focusrite saffire Pro 14 does not have an ADAT input and would not be compatible.

Q: 8. Hello.Is the rca phono input compatible with a moving-coil input?Thanks

A: One disadvantage of the moving coil cartridge is that it generates a smaller voltage and requires a secondary preamplifier, sometimes known as a head amp. The head amp increases the voltage enough for a phono input on a stereo component. Some moving coil cartridges have higher output and are compatible with a standard phono input, but its output will be somewhat lower than a moving magnet cartridge. So this ART phono preamp is most likely NOT compatible with many moving-coil cartridges unless the manufacturer has designed the cartride for use with a standard phono preamp like the ART.

Q: 9. How do you bridge the inputs so all 4 play the same sound ?

A: Bridge mode can be activated via a selector button on the back panel of the unit.

Q: 10. Can you supply this with power input of 240VAC 50Hz?

A: At this time we only carry the 120v version. You could use a step down transformer with it, such as BH #SEST1500UD.

[16.3 lb] For the price, this is an unbelievable product. The tone is clean and smooth, the conversion is great, the ADAT output is simple, the whole thing is rugged and takes up only 1 rack space. The tone won't change your life or solve all your problems but I haven't found another product that gives you 8 channels for anywhere near this price.

[16.3 lb] I wanted to add pre's to my saffire pro 40 and I didn't want the same kind of pre's I already had with my interface. So I went with these tube pre's. I really like them on Drums, they really add a kind of presence, more life to the drums, compared with the pre's on the saffire. For stuff like dialogues or voiceovers I think they are a bit too coloured tho, and the noise floor is quite high. But I really like them on loud sources. I am looking to change the tubes for high quality ECC83 soon to reduce noise floor. This is really cheap and a real good value. They add 8 pre's with one adat cable to my saffire pro 40, so I can carry my rack anywhere and record drums or a full band with 16 inputs. Really versatile. There's also 8 analogue balanced output, which is nice.

[16.3 lb] I am well pleased with the Art Voice Channel. Took me awhile to get it set the way I wanted but now it sounds great. Clean and clear sound, gate works well but is very sensitive, takes a bit to get it set correctly, compressor works great, I think the tone is a little on the crisp side but I just boosted lows in my recorder just a tad and it sounds great. Greatly improved my home studio!

[16.3 lb] I bought two of these to us for importing and exporting 8 stereo stems from my DAW via ADAT Lite Pipe. The tubes are the icing on the cake. These sound sweet and clean, and are a breeze to operate. The interface is so intuitive than the manual is almost unnecessary. Grab one before ART figures out that they're worth far more than list price.

[16.3 lb] I was looking to start my own home recording studio for local bands and through a lot of research, I found this neat little device. It allows for very clear and warm audio recording. I use it for recording vocals, acoustic guitars, grand piano, etc. In all of these instances, this device performs extremely well. The expander and compressor are both very nice features to have. My setup also includes the Focusrite Saffire PRO 40,Rode NT1-A mic, and Sure SM57 mic and I am able to get recordings at a very high level of quality; Almost no hissing in the recording which is very important to me. I will definitely be buying more of this product soon to add more channels.

[16.3 lb] I dont give products 5 stars ever. But today I'm doing that. Let me tell you I am really impressed. I can see why ART named this thing the Voice Channel. I keep reading about people using this for bass or overheads (It would work great for these) but this is really designed for the voice. After owning one for just a couple of hours and really getting a feel for the unit, it took my voice to a brand new level. Admittedly this is the first time i've done compression/eq/de-essing/gate/expand out of the box. However i feel like the investment in plugins (and the fact that very successful producers like Chris Lorde Algie and Graham Cochrane use plugins) prove there's nothig wrong with that approach. I've been recording in the box (plus a preamp) for a while. This was such an immediate upgrade. I've tried both using the USB out as well as running direct into my interface. The quality is absolutely there. The control though? If you're an in-the box mixer, you should still get one of these. Add a bit of compression and De-Esser on the way in and your singer can relax and focus on the performance. You can get SO MUCH MORE out of the singer that way. Overall i've been so impressed with this unit. The Preamp goes from SUPER clean to as much breakup as you would ever realistically use. It's a very musical preamp. And then the controls let you fine tune. I went from doing everything in the box to now I just use reverb and maybe a touch of further eq once I have my mix almost finished. When I expand and buy more channel strips, I'll probably just buy more of these.
