The ML-L3 supports the bulb exposure camera setting making it a worthwhile accessory for shooting long time exposures during low-light photography sessions, or for unusual daylight effects.

When the ML-L3 remote control is used in M mode, users can select '- -' as the shutter speed. At this setting, the shutter opens when the shutter-release button on the ML-L3 remote control is pressed (2 seconds after the button is pressed in delayed remote mode) and remains open until the remote-control shutter-release button is pressed a second time (maximum exposure time is 30 minutes). Nikon recommends using a fully-charged EN-EL3 battery or an optional EH-5 AC adapter when using long exposures. For information regarding using the ML-L3 with flash please see the camera's user manual. Basically, depress the timer 3x to get it ready, press to start the shot and step away. Come back and press the button again and it stops the shot.

[Nikon IR] Iam very pleased with the remote control so far. I've only had my equipment a few weeks. The remote works great in front of and behind the camera..Love it. I especially like the ability to shoot photos using the tripod without having to physically touch the camera..eliminating camera disturbance.Great for self portraits.

[Battery] The Nikon remote control has worked faultlessly for time exposures. It is easy to use, especially with the additional time delay options with Nikon's DSLR family of cameras. Great for night shots, IR filters, etc.

[Nikon IR] Working with a tripod almost 100% of the time I have always used a wired remote to reduce camera shake. Working in the field, the ML-L3 reduces my setup time with no restrictions from being tethered to a wired remote.

[Nikon IR] The only thing that I would like to see different is the location of the sensor on the camera, it seems to me it would be better if it were on the top of the camera where the remote could be used from the front or the rear of the camera. It's a small inconvenience, other than that it works great.

[Nikon IR] IT DOES TAKE SOME PRACTICE ON HOW TO USE IT SUCCESSFULLY I purchased several of these remotes for gifts,AS WELL AS MY OWN USE. The best use for me is that I can be in the photograph

[Nikon IR] This is a basic remote that does exactly what it's supposed to do. So far I have not had any problems with ranges of up to 20 feet. You do have to point it at the front of the camera in order for it to work. Your camera settings do the rest, and you set your camera to detect the remote either right away, or you can delay the shot so you have time to put the remote away and pose for the camera.
