The Heliopan 39mm Slim Circular Polarizer SH-PMC Filterhelps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

The filter is constructed using high quality Schott glass, which maintains optical clarity and contrast to help render scenes with greater fidelity and resolution. The SH-PMC multi-coating provides a total of 16 coatings, 8 per side, for significant reflection reduction (below 0.2%) as well as dust and moisture repellence for easier cleaning.

This filter features a brass mounting ring that is demarcated with calibration dots to help with finding consistent rotational positioning when TTL viewing is not possible. The ring also features a slim mount design, measuring 5mm-thick, that helps to prevent vignetting when used on wide-angle lenses. It does not feature front threads for mounting additional filters or lens caps.

Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.

SH-PMC multi-coating offers both protection to the glass and helps to maintain light transmission and image quality.

Constructed from Schott glass for high optical clarity.

Thin-profile filter ring reduces likelihood of vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I ordered a Sony RX1R from you that was delivered today. Will this filter work with the RX1R? If not, which filter do you recommend. Thanks.

A: Yes, that filter is the correct size for your camera's lens. It will work very well.

Q: 2. What is the thickness of the filter?

A: The Ice Slim Multicoated Circular Polarizer Filter (100 x 100mm) is 0.08" / 2 mm, thick.

Q: 3. I have the cannon 70D. Will this filter fits my lens?

A: It will depend on the lens you are using on the Canon 70D. This filter will fit a lens with a 72mm filter thread.

Q: 4. Regarding the Heliopan 52mm Slim Circular Polarizer SH-PMC Filter (705240), does anyone know if this filter will work with the larger Canon lenses (300mm f2.8, 400mm DO ...) that have rear mount drop-in filter holders. The issue is that 52mm screw in filters fit in the filter holder but when sliding the filter holder into the slot in the lens it does not fit because the filter is too thick. Is this particular filter slim enough to work with the above lenses? Please help.

A: Unfortunately this type of filter is built to be used on the outside of the lens, and is too thick to work inside a drop-in filter slot. Most circular polarizers, with their moving parts, will be too thick to use.

Q: 5. Is there any vignetting or image quality issues with the Heliopan 105mm High-Transmission slim CPL while using the Lee holder system? Or should I buy the non high transmission version? Thanks!

A: Vignetting depends on the FOV of the lens. I have it on the front of a LEE holder with one 4mm slot behind it and with a LEE 77mm Wide metal connector ring I get a tiny bit of vignetting at 16mm but not at 17mm or longer. If you have more filter slots: more vignetting... fewer slots or a longer lens: no vignetting.

Q: 6. what is difference between polarizing filter model 706261 and 706262?

A: The 706262 is a slim filter, which means it's frame is not as thick. This is important on a wide angle lens, as you will get vignetting on a thicker filter.

Q: 7. What is the thickness with and without threads of this filter?

A: The filter is approximately 5mm w/o threads and approximately 8mm with threads.

Q: 8. Is there a benefit to this Heliopan which costs x3 times the B+W high transmission counterpart? Thanks!

A: This Heliopan 77mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter provides greater light transmission at 99.8%, which is about the same as a clear UV filter, but in a circular polarizer which usually loses much more light on average. Both filters have a brass metal filter ring. And Heliopan offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty, over the other's Limited 1-Year Warranty.

Q: 9. Hi, I used this filter to thePanasonic AG- DVX200 4K ?

A: Yes; as the Panasonic AG-DVX200 4K Handheld Camcorder has 72mm filter threads, the Heliopan 72mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter would be compatible for use on the Panasonic AG-DVX200 Camcorder.

Q: 10. How does this compare to Hoya or Sony brand circular polarizer?

A: Heliopan is a top class brand name

[Unthreaded] The brass construction eliminates the problem of getting the filter stuck on the lens. Ground glass optics account for its higher cost, and provide superlative quality. This is a great match for a Canon L lens. It hurts to shoot an epic landscape using an equally epic lens, just to have the quality suffer from a plate glass filter. A major problem is that without a threded outer ring the camera lens cap will not fit on it. Buying a slip on cap is highly reccomended with this purchase.

[Unthreaded] From the first time I placed this filter on my camera I knew I was dealing with pure class ... It is quality through and through. During a trip to a zoo I watched as water was wonderfully transformed as I turned the polarizer. I got so excited I had to show my daughter!! I know this is not (by any means) the cheapest polarizing filter on the market -- but it sure seems worth the price to me. I would buy another one of these in a New York minute!

[Brass] I wrecked my first one in an unfortunate accident- and immediately ordered another one. This Pola is more expensive than some others, but the heavy duty brass construction is worth it. It's narrow profile allows me to put it on my 10-22 with no vignetting. Also, if you put it next to the cheaper polas, the lens coating really holds up. No obnoxious greenish flares like with some others.

[Brass] Purchased it for my Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 Distagon T* ZE Lens. Works great with no apparent vignetting, so is a good alternative to the more costly Zeiss polarizer alternative for that lens.
