Q: 1. What's the length of this bulb's tube from endcap to endcap (not including length of pins)? I'm looking for a F8T5D that is no more than 11-1/4" endcap to endcap to fit in an older Artograph LightTracer lightbox. Even one 11-5/16" cap to cap is 1/16" too long and will not install. Artograph's website states the replacement bulb is no longer available.

A: Length would be 11 5/16th inches. These would not be compatible.

A: The Osram GCA (250W/120V) Lamp only comes as a quartz bulb. There are no LED versions.

Q: 7. Will this work if my previous lightbulb was a e27 ?

A: This bulb is a universal E26 / E27 Edison screw base which fits most monolight strobes and fixtures that accept the standard Edison base.

Q: 8. Is this lamp safety coated?

A: No, the Impact JDD Lamp (150W, 120V, 3-Pack) are not safety coated bulbs.

Q: 9. Why do these bulbs not exist in daylight color temperature?

A: That's a good question and something I've wondered about, as well. I know that, as a modeling lamp, they're meant to be easy on the subject's eyes and keep them dilated in between strobe flashes, while emitting just enough light to satisfy the auto-focus needs of the camera. But, as an alternative, I've sucessfully used the long, slim G.E. LED Brightstiks which are daylight balanced to 5000K and fit the E26/27-style base in most strobes. Lumen ratings are limited to 760-1100, however, so you'll give up quite a bit of brightness. I don't find that to be too much of a problem and actually think it's easier on the subject's eyes not having to adapt back and forth from warm to cool light. They support consistent auto white balance, too.

[BDTH] I initially looked everywhere for these fluorescent tubes to no avail. I have had a Porta-Trace lightbox for many, many years that I use in a variety of artwork endeavors. I felt it was time to buy a couple of backup fluorescent tubes just in case one of the old tubes in my trusty old Porta-Trace should ever burn out. In my search, I ran across a multitude of reviews online by frustrated individuals who could not locate the tubes. I myself was also starting to lose hope. I figured my Porta-Trace was so old the tubes were probably no longer available. Then I remembered B&H. I used to order a lot of my equipment and supplies through B&H. Keeping my fingers crossed I thought I would just check and see if they might by chance carry the elusive fluorescent tubes. Well, B&H came through. Thank you reliable B&H. 5

[CC-6] I had been searching for a replacement bulb for my old Hanimex projector. I have no idea why, but I looked a couple of other places first.... boy am I glad I remembered to come back to B&H!
