Q: 1. I recently had a lightning strike near my house that fried all of the HDMI inputs on my TV. The rest of the TV works fine. Also fried a BluRay player, connected via HDMI. Comcast box was connected to outside cable via coax, then ran HDMI from box to TV. Would this prevent a power surge thru HDMI cables (since HDMI was connected to Comcast box)?

A: I'm not sure what you mean by all your connections you mentioned. However I think it would be a good idea to run your cable wire in to the surge supressor, and out to your cable box to make sure all devices after that are protected. Also you should run your power for all devices from a surge protected outlet. Make sure you have enough protection for all your devices according to the electrical usage. See apc's website to help determine your needs. I also have battery backups/surge for my computers. No power or phone line or cable should be unprotected heading into your components. Thats my best answer.

A: Yes it does. It can be mounted on any direction (horizontally or vertically).

A: The right angle plug does not rotate. The cord swivels at the inlet to the cabinet.

A: The APC Essential SurgeArrest Rotating 4-Outlet Wall Tap with USB Charger would not be recommended for use in a GFCI outlet.

A: The APC Network SurgeArrest 7-Outlet 120V Power Strip and Surge Protector does not have a fuse. It uses a circuit breaker that can be found near the cable.

[330 V] I've never had any reason to doubt an APC product, and I still don't. I've subjected this power strip to artificially-induced power surges, and I feel comfortable entrusting this product with my equipment. Also, the long cord is a great feature for my uses. 5

The ten-foot cord is handy if you need a medium length extension cord. Great for meetings where you need to hook up multiple devices where outlets are not necessarily handy, and surge protection to boot. 5

This APC 610 is going to be my new go-to unit. It's got the standard inline receptacles, a conveniently located switch, and a light that shows the surge protection is intact and working. Best of all is the generous ten-foot cord, just what I needed. You can't always get decent Joule ratings in these, but the 610 handles up to 1080 Joules, better than average for a plain and simple unit. I've never had to exercise the insurance that comes with these, but the limit of $50,000 in connected equipment seems extremely beneficial. I haven't opened the unit, but I envision the typical high quality surge protection components that would be inside, the hallmark of APC. 5
