Mechanical keyboards utilize a different type of key switch technology for a more durable and unique typing experience. The Cherry MX Blue switch has an actuation force of 50g and offers both an audible "click" and a tactile bump when pressed, letting you know that the key has registered. The "click" comes from a mechanism within the switch that triggers when the key reaches its actuation point.

[2.8 lb] Simple design, Small footprint, Heavy, with snappy keys, and at a fair price too. A real delight. For those looking for something stripped down to the essentiels well built without the flashy effects, this could be it.

[USB / PS/2] This keyboard is fantastic, very well built, nice feeling keys and good options for how the cable is routed. If you need a number pad, this keyboard is not for you, but if you don't need a number pad you will appreciate its compact size. My only small complaint is how the caps lock, scroll lock and windows lock are light up, it will make it dificult to use custom keycaps with it.

[2.1 lb (940 g)] The most comfortable gaming keyboard I have ever gotten. CM had discontinued this product last year I think, and I was glad to see it was still being sold here for its initial price! This goes very well with my new gaming rig and I recommend it to those who want solid gaming keyboards.

[2.8 lb] I work as a writer and wanted to get a not-insanely-expensive mechanical keyboard for daily work on Mac and PC. The keyboard looks sleek and minimal, which I like, except perhaps the way the fn-media shortcuts look on the F buttons, but it still looks really nice. I'm not a fan of flashy LED lights, so I appreciate the fact this board only uses them for Caps Lock, Scroll Lock, and one for the FN toggle (and only when you activate those functions). I like how the keyboard only has a logo on the front edge, out of view during normal use. The Cherry Blue key switches work great for typing and I even like them when I do some occasional gaming. Yes, blue switches make noise, however, these are not obsessively loud and I actually find the sound soothing. The keyboard comes with a pretty durable cable as well. I haven't had the keyboard for an excessive amount of time, so I cannot vouch for its durability, however, it seems like a very well built piece for the price. (I will have paid $ after a $ mail in rebate that I am waiting for.) I received my keyboard on the expected shipping day and have no complaints with my order.

[USB / PS/2] CM Quickfire Rapid is the ten keyless mechanical keyboard I could find that worked with Mac out of the box. All multimedia keys work with Mac. A lot of mechanical keyboards I researched had some sort of issue with Mac or required some software to be installed. The CM Quickfire rapid works right out of the box. The most you would have to do is update your modifier keys in OSX and switch your key caps for option/command. I own two of these keyboards now, one with blue and one with brown cherry mx keys. I used the blue version for over a year and wanted to get a quieter version for use at work. I tried adding o-rings to the blue keyboard and it greatly reduced the sound by preventing the keys from bottoming out. The main problem I had with this solution was that the click of the blue key switches is still very audible and the o-rings decreased the travel of the keys. Making it feel too short in my opinion. The brown key switch version is much quieter since there's no audible click. To prevent bottoming out, I removed the o-rings I put in the blue version and put them in the brown. Making the brown even quieter than it already was. Perfect for an office environment shared with other coworkers. The brown key switches are nice if you like the the blue keys, but need to do without the audible click. The brown keys have a noticeable bump when you press down on them. Cons: Lack of backlit keys. I don't have a need for the backlit keys, but would be a nice to have. All of the other ten keyless with backlit keys were about double the price of this one. No USB hub. While not needed, would be nice if it also had a USB hub like some of the other mechanical keyboards I researched.
