The headphones are designed with an EQ curve that's been tailored for an enhanced low end that allows engineers to detect rumble and monitor bass frequencies effectively. Q: 1. Are this headphones made of leather or vinyl?

A: Like everyone else said it is hard to tell. I would say Vynil but the quality is amazing. I use them to speech transcript, tone and segmental analysis and they are amazing!

Q: 2. can you also hook this up a computer?

A: absolutely. I use a USB audio interface to drive mine, but you can also just plug it in to the headphone jack on a laptop or desktop.

Q: 3. I'm thinking of buying this for my 80 y/o mother (who is very hard of hearing) when watching television. Two questions: Can this be used for watching TV? Is it comfortable? Thanks.

A: I bought these earphones for my son who is a video editor. He wears them for long periods of time daily and has no complaints. The cord is also very long so your mother wouldnt have to sit right in front of the TV. Please make sure that her TV has a place to plug them in as not all TVs do.

A: The SMH-1000 features a 1/8 stereo connector with 1/4 screw on adapter included in the package as well.

Q: 5. Will these plug directly intp a GH4? Or is an adapter needed, or is it included? Thanks

A: They definitely do! I have the same setup

Q: 6. What are the inside dimensions of the ear cups? I have big ears.

A: The inside oval-shaped area is approximately 1.5X2.5 inches. We do also offer Auray Extra Deep Earpads (Pair), BH #AUEDMDR7506, which are deep and offer a wider inner area.

Q: 7. Are these headphones surround sound?

A: These are stereo headphones and cannot offer a surround-sound experience.

Q: 8. Does this utilize an XLR port to connect?

A: No, the Senal SMH-500 have a 1/4" TRS connector.

Q: 9. Should I get these or Sony MDR-7506? They seem very similar.

A: I bought both the referenced Senal and Sony headsets--each is stored and used with separate video cameras. I cannot perceive any audio or comfort differences between these two headsets but I really like the detachable cord feature on the Senal SMH-1000. This lets me switch between the longer coiled cord or short straight cord as needs require--and provides a back-up headset cable in case the other got damaged. As the other reviewer said, you won't go wrong with either headset.

Q: 10. I own the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, which I use for film production location sound. I'm looking for a more compact alternative that will take less space in my camera bag. Are the Senal SMH-1000 a good option in that regard?

A: The SMH-1000 is arguably a better choice for monitoring location sound. They are lighter, less bulky, and allow the wearer to pick up environmental sounds much more easily while still providing a clear listening experience.

[1000 mW] Could not beat the price, plus the discounted add-on leather ear cushions. I plugged these into my laptop and reduced volume control from 20 (internal speakers) down to 5. Clamping pressure will likely ease with use, I expect. These will be used in engineering live sound for concert recording and church services, and in converting old LPs to CD at home. The 1/4 gold-plated adapter screws on the mini plug; very secure. The EQ curve is designed to enhance the low frequencies, for reducing wind noise and other bass sources to improve the balance in recording and live sound reinforcement. [1/8" / 3.5 mm] Hook this up to a Roland digital piano. The coiled cable is very useful. I don't have to take it off if I switch piano pieces. I noticed the difference in sound from the old Sony headphone I used before. Senal sound is even, does not hear lots of bass. At first I said that I missed my Sony, but then I started to get the hang of it. I began to notice that I am hearing somewhat close to the sound that the piano actually is producing. Compared this again with Beats, that headphone has too much bass - does not sound natural to me. This Senal headphone is comfortable and construction seems solid. My son uses this when he creates his own music. Listened Pandora on a Mac - I like the sound and no complaints there. I hear all the instrument used in the accompaniment. For the price, you can never go wrong. I will try the SMH-1000 once it goes on sale. I will give it 5 stars. 5

[1.06 lb] Great for studio and for field monitor use. Over the ear design eliminates most of the surrounding noise. Comfortable to wear for a couple of hours at a time. Excellent sound quality. Excellent headphones for the money. 5
