This version of the Evertz 7881DEC-H264HD H.264/AVC Decoder 3RU Back Plateincludes a 3RU back plate for the 7800FR frame.

As the broadcast landscape continues to evolve, the need for a higher class of compression encoder that uses the latest in compression technology becomes more relevant to the overall success of the operation. The Evertz 7881DEC-H264HD(7881DEC) video contribution decoder is designed to satisfy this requirement--when paired with the 7881ENC-H264HD professional encoder.

This module has been designed for high quality, low latency compression of HD/SD-SDI video and audio signals over any transport network, including IP/MPLS, satellite and sonet. The decoder is equipped with an enhanced H.264/AVC (MPEG-4 Part 10) video compression engine designed to deliver high quality video with low latency--as low as 100 ms end to end.

The decoder also includes a dedicated control port that offers a built-in web server for quick and easy configuration, including true SNMP control from the VistaLINK NMS when paired with a frame controller.

Q: 1. I would like to stream an HDMI source over a local network to a smart TV and computer. Will this stream in HLS, be available to multiple devices on my LAN, and be playable in a standard browser with no additional decoding software or hardware? Thanks in advance!

A: The AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder does provide HTTP(HLS) protocol. The following protocols are provided in the device for streaming applications and decoders: RTMP/HTTP/RTSP/UNICAST/MULTICAST/RTP/SRT

Q: 2. Will this work with Zoom, YouTube and Facebook?

A: The AVMATRIX SE1217 H.265/264 HDMI Streaming Encoder is compatible with RTMP and RTMPS streaming protocols which are used by Zoom, YouTube and Facebook for streaming.

A: Unfortunately, there is no egg crate available for this softbox.

Q: 8. can we use this device to stream over public network ? If yes how

A: The WiMi6220 Wireless 3G-SDI & HDMI H.264 Encoder/Decoder Set from Nimbus is a point-to-point Wi-Fi transmission system. With both units featuring built-in 5 GHz Wi-Fi, no additional network connection is required. The transmitter encodes and sends up to a 1080p60 SDI or HDMI signal as an H.264 encoded signal, and the receiver decodes and outputs it as video.

The Osprey is quite versatile and reliable. We have purchased dozens of the G1 & G2 encoders for use throughout numerous facilities in our extensive network. Our primary use is for multicasting, but we also do a number of unicasts and YouTube streams.
Osprey tech support is so helpful and knowledgeable, which is another huge selling point.
We have used numerous other manufacturers products (HaiVision, Evertz, Ensemble Design, and Lynx). All of them work fine but Osprey offered the best quality and reliability for the price.

Bought this and its matching rx. They seem pretty good. You can select different definitions, FHD, HD, SD, and then can assign them to the 3 types, and allocate bit rates for each. Eg you can select HD, send that to SD and a bit rate of 800 and FHD to HD and a bit rate of 2000 etc. It then selects the resolution type, eg 720P. The only limitation I find a bit strange is that the full range of resolutions, are not available all the time. They vary what is available depending on the Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz of the incoming HDMI. I am using 60Hz, and this does not have 1080i, but if I was using 50Hz, then 1080i would be included.
60Hz has 480i, 480P, 720P, 1080P.
50Hz has 576i, 576P, 720P, 1080P, 1080i.
The other strange thing I notice is that if I select a bit rate of 800Kbps, and then monitor the link at the IP level, it seems to be using about 3.5Mbps.
However, for quality and ease of use, these seem to be great devices.

Use these to send my program video to my announcers for sports productions. My production truck is all IP so I just choose my NDI Program source and plug in an HDMI cable to their monitors and perfect easy setup. And, now I can send multiple things to the monitor just by simply choosing a different NDI source and a quick switch is done. No routing needed.

These units are ideal for instant connect up and they work. You can customise the bit rate and it keeps the video smooth. One TX can feed many RX.

Using this to decode an NDI source to a projector in Church services with live stream. We previously were sending the Presentation Laptops screen to the OBS computer via NDI, and used a separate proprietary wireless video feed to the main projector. Got this so we can use the same NDI source for both and eliminate the wireless projector feed.
It is working well. One thing to be aware of: the projector will display will go blank in a couple of seconds if there is no video and audio activity when using NDI Screen Capture as the source. This can be an issue during power points with static screens. You can set the decoder to keep the last thing displayed on the screen or allow it to go blank. I prefer it to go blank so I know something is wrong right away. You can also resolve by making sure the NDI Screen Capture is using an active audio source (like the microphone).
This decoder has been reliable and is reasonably priced. Perhaps other decoders won't have the inactivity issue but they are also more expensive. This has not been a show stopper for us.
