The Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Pentax K Mountprovides a 180° diagonal angle of view on full-frame cameras for an ultra-wide angle, distorted perspective that is useful for architectural interiors, landscapes and creative experimentation in any photographic application. The f/2.8 maximum aperture is effective in low light situations and enables some measure of shallow depth of field control.

The lens' sophisticated optical design consists of 12 lens elements arranged in 8 groups including three elements made of low dispersion ED glass and two aspherical lens elements to minimize coma and chromatic aberrations. Highly effective nanocrystal anti-reflection (NCS) coating applied together with UMC coatings improve light transmission and reduce ghosting. Its internal focus system enables its compact design and keeps the front element from extending during focus.

As a manual focus, manual aperture lens, it offers a wide, easy to grip focus ring and bright aperture, distance and depth of field markings. A removable petal-shaped lens hood is included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work the D5500 model?

A: It may work, but, your camera is a DX format. My D810 has a FX size sensor. This lens might be better for you, and its cheaper :) a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/886555-REG/Rokinon_hd8m_n_8mm_f_3_5_HD_Fisheye.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/886555-REG/Rokinon_hd8m_n_8mm_f_3_5_HD_Fisheye.html/a

Q: 2. I own a canon 6d. Is this going To Work for me ?

A: It works on full frame bodies

Q: 3. Does the lens come with a cover or bag/case? I see it comes with a petal hood.

A: Hi, It comes with a lenscap that locks onto the lens hood. The lenshood is part of the lens, not removable. It also comes with a drawstring bag, no padding.

Q: 4. Will this lens work with a D3200?

A: I have a Nikon D3200 and this lens is on my camera right now. It is a manual focus lens, but it has a CPU chip. You need to set the lens for the smallest f/stop, f/22 and leave it there . After that, you can use P/S/A/M modes just as you would with any lens. The camera will change the f/stop and shutter speed for correct exposure in P mode; will change the f/stop and you specify the shutter speed in S mode, and it will use the f/stop you select and adjust the shutter speed in A mode. It's a great lens. I also have the Sigma 15mm f/2.8 fisheye which has autofocus, as well, but that lens does not have a built-in AF motor and so won't autofocus on the D3200. So, functionally, the Sigma and the Rokinon are the same, and this one costs a bit less.

Q: 5. auto or manual focus?

A: Manual focus but with such a wide angle most subjects are in focus unless youre really trying to spot- focus within the frame

Q: 6. Is this a full frame lens? Or do I have to use it in crop mode on my a7II?

A: It's a full frame lens, but there is distortion so I like to shoot on the crop mode sometimes to minimise the distortion.

Q: 7. I hear this lens is sharper and has less chromatic aberration than the 2.0 version. I will be using it on the a6000...but does that really matter. I just want the sharpest picture possible. I am aware of the crop factor, but is there anything else i should know about. Any help on this would be amazing. Lenses are expensive so im just trying to make the best possible choice!?

A: I sold my Rokinon 8mm f2.8 fisheye after a year of use to buy this 12mm full frame Version. I am Much happier with the 12mm f2.8 on my A6000. It's quite a bit larger but the trade off is the photos are over the top better without a doubt.

Q: 8. May I use these lens for video too.(Rokinon 12mm f/12 fisheye sony E mount ) ?

A: Absolutely, any photo lens can be used for video, basically.

Q: 9. I have Rokinon 8mm Fisheye, which and great, but I need to be very close to very subject. So i am thinking o this less wide fisheye, but I wonder if it is also sharp when stopped down to 5.6? Then everything is in focus

A: Rokinon's lenses are quite sharp and I love them. As long as you don't mind the manual focus. I don't know how close you can go to the subject, the Fisheye will distort the view, you may want to look for a macro lense instead? I use this lens mainly for wide landscape picture and I am always amazed how much space this lens can capture. I hope this helps!

Q: 10. What country is this lens made in?

A: Rokinon is re-band of Samyoung band, Samyoung lens is made in south Korea.

[f/2.8] Great lens for giving a different, twisted perspective on the world. Very compact and lightweight, excellent optics, sharp images.
Would definitely recommend this lens for anyone who wants to play around with a fish-eye lens

[f/2.8] I needed an ultrawide lens, this Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 was on sale, and so I went for it. I'm glad I did. The lens is manual, but at f/5.6, f/8 and the lens' focus set at or near infinity distance-wise, everything's in focus and the results are excellent. In most situations autofocus isn't needed - maybe AF might be at 2.8 with a close subject, but by the same token, this isn't the type of lens that's geared toward "bokeh" type shooting. And in any event, it's easy to focus manually, especially with my A7RII using focus peaking. This is an excellent lens to be creative with.

[f/22] performs well. Very sharp. Occupies the full frame on my D850. Not surprisingly, there is some barrel distortion.

[Full-Frame] Great lens especially for the price! Images come out sharp with good contrast and color. I am using it with a Sony A7RIII. The distortion is reasonable considering it's a 12mm. Most of the distortion is on the very edge of the frame. I highly recommend this lens!

[Manual Focus] I bought this lens mainly to cover larger areas of the night sky when shooting meteor showers or the ISS. I was somewhat reluctant to go with a something other than my camera's brand--Nikon--but this Rokinon had a feature I liked: while it covers 180 degrees horizontally, it does NOT make a circular image. No black corners in the images, even on my D850 body. After using this lens for night sky photos, I used it to shoot some indoor construction pictures in tight locations, and found it to be perfect for that use. Image quality is good to excellent, and lack of AF isn't an issue with a 12 mm lens due to the huge depth of field.
In choosing to buy this lens, I relied on other reviews and on the fact that I knew if it turned out to be a dud, B&H would take it back. Turned out the positive reviews were right on, and I'm totally satisfied with this lens. And at $400, it was a great deal!
