The Blonder Tongue CATV Modulator SAW Filtering Channel 43from Blonder Tongue CATV Modulator SAW Filtering Channel 43is an all-solid-state audio/video modulator that provides a modulated visual and aural RF carrier output on one specific CATV channel. The unit modulates the audio and video inputs and provides the requested RF CATV channel output for use in a CATV, MATV or SMATV system. The modulator accepts standard (sync negative) polarity video at a 0.7-2.5V peak to peak level from sources such as a TV camera, video tape recorder, TV demodulator or satellite receiver.

The modulator features a +55dBmV RF output level, and an IF SAW filtering for adjacent channel operation. All aeronautical channels are offset positive with a tolerance of ±5kHz as required by FCC 21006. All level controls are located on the front panel. The RF level control provides up to +55dBmV output. The video modulator control sets the depth of modulation for 87.5% over an input video level range from 0.7VP/p to 2.5VP/p. An audio modulation control permits adjustment for ±25kHz peak deviation of the aural carrier.

Q: 1. are there instructions for switching the cartridge?

A: If I recall, there are instructions provided but it's simple. Leave the unit powered on, unplug the power connector from the battery pack, remove the screws holding it in, swap the battery pack, replace the screws, plug the connector back in. Check the display to clear any errors and/or verify no errors.

Q: 2. How is the build? I bought a similar one from amazon that broke almost immediately

A: This is a well made basic umbrella with aluminum ribs. Under normal use it should last you for quite some time if you do not mishandle/force it.

Q: 3. How heat resistant is the umbrella. Can I shine a 150w light bulb up close to it

A: This umbrella can handle up to 500 watts of tungsten light.

Q: 4. What is the folded/closed down length of this 43" umbrella?

A: The folded/closed down length is an estimated 29 inches.

Q: 5. Can I use this for both Speedlights or studio strobes like an Alienbee?

A: Yes, that is designed to work for strobes and speedlights. It has not been tested with everyone but should work with most. You will need an umbrella bracket to use this with a speedlight. Some of them are listed below.

Q: 6. Can residential input coaxial cables (TV, weather station, etc) convert directly to RJ45/RJ11 connector for indoor weather station console? VideoEase CATV Balun II appears to do this. Thank you...

A: Yes, you are able to use your standard coax cable and convert the signal to RJ-45.

Q: 7. I can't fold up the umbrella, with the black cover on, without the black cover's metal tips falling off of the umbrella's ribs' tips. How does one keep the metal tips of the black cover on the umbrella's ribs' tips when folding the umbrella?

A: It6 sounds like the cap may be strip. I would contact B&H for a replacement. I haven't had that problem with these

[0 to +50°C] Great device, bought to fix a ground loop hum between my catv coax coming into the house and my other audio-video equipment.
So now no more hum and the video reception quality did not degrade.

[18 dB] This seems like a pricey little widget, but it worked perfectly to eliminate a heavy hum in my new subwoofer setup (Dayton rackmount subwoofer amp, Dayton Reference 10 subwoofer) in my home theater. BTW this was at the suggestion of the documentation for the subwoofer driver.

[CATV channel 43] I was getting hum from my REL T9 subwoofer. REL customer service helped me track down the cause to electrical noise originating from my coax Xfinity cable connection and flowing through my cable box and my AV receiver and out to my subwoofer. After adding this ground isolator the hum immediately disappeared.

[-90 dBc] The factory shipped the device to us very quickly; we received it in only two days. The mechanical workmanship is jewel-like; it's almost a work of art. The instructions imply that one end is the input, but this is not the case, as it's bidirectional. We confirmed this with Ditek tech support, whose response time was exceptionally short. Not cheap, but solid industrial quality generally isn't.

[15 dB] I've been selling and installing both the RF only and RF+IP models of the ZVPRO since 2015. We had one power supply fail in that time frame. That unit was in a less than ideal location being bombarded with construction dust. The customer also had daisy chained power strips which I'm sure didn't help.

That's it. We've had no other issues. All these units are still in service.
