Based on the original Nagler design, the 7-element/4-group lens configuration employed in the Tele Vue Nagler 7mm Type-6 Eyepiece 1.25"was designed as an ideal eyepiece for lunar and planetary viewing.

Despite its short focal length, the optical properties allow it to maintain its wide 82° apparent field of view, and a comfortable 12mm eye relief that provides space between the lens and eye to prevent accidental contact that can interfere with views. Built to Tele Vue's exacting standards, the Type-6 features anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to improve brightness, color rendition, and contrast; and a fold-down rubber eyecup that helps to block stray peripheral light from interfering with the views and to further enhance contrast. A textured collar around the body ensure safe handling in the cold or while wearing gloves. The Type-6 has a barrel diameter of 1.25" to fit into the most common sized focusers and accessories, and is parfocal with all Tele Vue group 'B' eyepieces, allowing you to change eyepieces within the group without having to refocus every time.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what is the percentage of distortion.....?

A: It would really all depend on the Telescope you have. Unfortunately I do not have that type of information, my apologies.

Q: 2. Can this be used with Celestron 102 AZ telescope ?

A: Yes, the Celestron X-Cel LX 7mm Eyepiece (1.25"), can be used with the Celestron 102 AZ telescope.

Q: 3. Is this a good eyepiece and is it compatible with the Celestron Nexstar 105 GT telescope?

A: Televue Panoptics are excellent eyepieces. Very sharp, clear images. To determine if an eyepiece is compatible with your telescope you first need to calculate your telescope's Maximum True Field of View, then calculate the eyepiece's True field of View. Eyepieces that have a True Field of View greater than your telescope's Maximum True Field of View will cutoff the image and have chromatic aberrations around the edges. Generally speaking, it does not hurt to go a little over tFOV with quality eyepieces, but the more the eyepiece's tFOV is over the telescopes's max tFOV more of the image is cutoff and the worse the chromatic aberrations get around the edges. There are several very good free eyepiece calculators available on the web to calculate Max tFOV, and help determine eyepiece compatibility.

Q: 4. Hi.. Hello,How can I use this eyepiece with Canon Kiss-X2?

A: It should work if you have the correct Canon T-Thread adapter for your Kiss-X2

Q: 5. What I feel that needs to be better explained about eyepieces and focal lengths as in 6mm or 25mm is that the opening is tiny for 6 mm as compared with 25mm that is wider . The lower the focal length the difficult it gets to train your eye throughthe opening due to its tiny opening. My child experience with my first kid telescope that came with 6mm and 25mm eyepieces told me that 25mm is more enjoyable to use despite lower magnification than the higher magnifying 6mm which is so restrictive in the opening for my eye to keep peeking through as steadiily as I can. I think that a minimum of 10mm is acceptable to me or maybe 12mm. . Am I correct?

A: Yes that is correct. 10 or 12mm will be okay. It also depends on how large of an aperture your scope has. The bigger front opening of the scope the brighter the image.

Q: 6. Is it advisable to use a barlow lense with Televue eyepieces?

A: This is a fairly high powered Eyepiece. I would only go with a Barlow if you had a Scope with a large Objective around 8", and up.

Q: 7. How will this TV 32 mm plossl work in a Celestron C5 spotting scope?

A: The Celestron C5 127mm f/10 50x Spotting Scope (OTA Only) BH #CEC5SB • MFR #52291 came with a 25mm eyepiece The Tele Vue Plossl 32mm Eyepiece (1.25") BH #TEEPL32P • MFR #EPL-32.0 is a upgrade eyepiece becaus og better glass and coatings on the elements

Q: 8. Could I use this with my Meade 125 etc?

A: If your telescope has a 1.25 eyepiece opening then this eyepiece will work. To determine if your scope does I will need to know the exact Meade Model that you have.

Q: 9. Hello,Is this lens compatible with the Celestron 6SE telescope?Many thanks

A: I bought the lens about a month but have no chance to view through it yet. However I did try fitting it to my Celestron 8SE telescope which has a 1.25 diagonal and I did not have any problem.

Q: 10. are the Delos series eye pieces par-focal?

A: Yes it is. This is parfocal with Tele Vue Group B eyepieces so no refocusing is required when switching between eyepieces within the group.

[12.0 mm] This is a great eye piece for my 8 LX90. Great clarity with superb optics.

[12.0 mm] I have quite a few Nagler Eyepieces. They have a comfortably wide field of view with great contrast. I don't use glasses, so the eye relief is very comfortable. The view is sharp and constrasty. These are truly premium eyepieces. Size does matter, especially if you have a smaller telescope. The Naglers are much lighter than any of the other Televue EP's in this size range. I find the 5mm Nagler to be the most consistently useful focal length for my F7 refractor when viewing planets, and when splitting all but the closest double stars. I have higher magnifications, but they always require the best seeing. Even then, I always 'stop by' the 5mm before proceeding.

[7mm] What can I say, it's a TV Nagler

[82°] I purchased this specifically for planetary viewing with a 10 Dobsonian, and it has been perfect. The wide apparent field means that the planets stay in the field of view for much longer than with other high power eyepieces, and the image is amazingly sharp edge to edge for such a short focal length. One heads up - to get the best from this eyepiece your reflector needs to be very well collimated. The eyepice is not forgiving at all of collimation errors. This also makes it an outstanding eyepiece for star testing to get your Dob into that perfect collimation. It really is worth that effort. I have also tried the eyepiece with a 12 Schmidt-Cassegrain with the same fantastic results.

[0.65 lb] After a long wait, I finally received a 32mm Nagler T5 eyepiece, which opens up the full potential of my TV85 for wide field viewing. True to reputation, this eyepiece is large and massive. However, it fits nicely on the 2" diagonal of the TV85, and can be balanced on a Telepod mount. It has the same high quality materials, construction, and feel of other Televue products. I would like to rhapsodize about sweeping views of the Milky Way and the Veil Nebula, but in the cruel world of Michigan winter all I have been granted so far is a quick (but impressive) view of the Pleiades on a very cold night. But next summer, I look forward to better viewing under dark skies in northern MI.

[7mm] Like many I have been using a hodge podge of EP's and finally decided to do something about it. Got this and a Delos17.3 and I'm kicking myself. Should have done this years ago. Contrast,clarity,fov.......name it. The 22NT4 is fine with glasses (Delos a smidge more ER) and easy to look through. On my 800mm F8 I don't need a finder and the presentation on objects is great. Now I need more Delos EP's.

[1.25"] There's a reason that Televue is the gold standard. I've got a few Televue eye pieces and this Nagler is as nice as I expected. It provides great views via my Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. The wide field of view offered by this eye piece is a huge benefit with the long focal length and otherwise small field of view afforded by my telescope. The views are so good that I ordered another Nagler eye piece that should be arriving tomorrow!

[7mm] This is in my opinion, the best eyepiece I have used, not too heavy, and the 82 degree view is incredible, very very sharp.
Is a space walk view.
