The T1600G-28PS provides 24 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 Ports that support 802.3at/af-compliant PoE, with a total PoE power supply up to 192W to power any 802.3at/af compliant power device. Compact and flexible, the T1600G-28PS is ideal to flexibly use PoE to deploy wireless access points or IP-based network surveillance cameras for projects or small business networks.

The T1600G-28PS supports rich L2 features, including 802.1Q tag VLAN, Port Isolation, Port Mirroring, STP/RSTP/MSTP, Link Aggregation Group and 802.3x Flow Control function. Besides, the switch provides advanced features for network maintenance such as Loop Back Detection, Cable Diagnostics and IGMP Snooping. IGMP snooping ensures the switch intelligently forward the multicast stream only to the appropriate subscribers while IGMP throttling & filtering restrict each subscriber on a port level to prevent unauthorized multicast access. Moreover, T1600G-28PS supports L2+ feature-static routing, which is a simple way to provide segmentation of the network with internal routing through the switch and helps network traffic for more efficient use.

The T1600G-28PS supports IP-MAC-Port Binding, Port Security, Storm control and DHCP Snooping which protect against broadcast storms, ARP attacks, etc. In addition, the Access Control Lists (ACL, L2 to L4) feature restricts access to sensitive network resources by denying packets based on source and destination MAC address, IP address, TCP/UDP ports, and even VLAN ID. Moreover, the switch supports 802.1X, which allows network clients to be authenticated through external Radius servers. Guest VLAN function supports to enable the non-802.1X clients to access the specific network resource.

To integrate voice, data, and video service on one network, the switch applies QoS policies. Administrators can designate the priority of the traffic based on a variety of means, including Port Priority, 802.1P Priority, and DSCP Priority, to ensure that voice and video are clear, smooth, and jitter free.

The T1600G-28PS supports various user-friendly standard management features, such as intuitive web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) or industry-standard Command Line Interface (CLI), SNMP (v1/2/3) and RMON support enables the switch to be polled for valuable status information and send traps on abnormal events. And comprehensive IPv6 supporting management ensures a smooth migration to IPv6-based network. Besides, it also supports Dual Image, which provides reduced down-time for the switches, when the image is being upgraded / downgraded.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this have a wall mount bracket included ?

A: The TP-Link LS1008G does not include any type of mounting bracket.

Q: 2. Hi, the SFP+ ports are described as uplink. Are they limited to communication with the upstream switch or can they be used like "regular" ports i.e. to connect a 10GB NAS such as BH #QNTSH977XU32 ?

A: You could potentially use the SFP+ ports for other uses but the uplink port would be for an upstream switch or to the router.

Q: 3. What version of the hardware are you selling? TP-Link's website notes several versions, V3.0 and V3.20.

A: We currently do not have an exact version number. We have a mix of V3, V4 and V5 of the TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port Gigabit PoE Smart Switch with 2 SFP Slots depending on the chipset.

Q: 4. The power budget says 384W with each port able to provide 30W. Does this mean the power budget only supports 12.8 devices or does it support all 48 ports at 8W each? My devices pull a max of 6.5W each.

A: The TP-Link TL-SG3428XMP JetStream 24-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch with SFP+ budget of 384w is total draw. Any one port can handle up to 30w. You can use all the ports at a lower amount as long as you do not exceed the total of 384w.

Q: 5. It says it comes with a rack mount kit. What are the dimensions of the rack mount kit?

A: TP-Link has not specified the dimensions of the rackmount kit included with the TP-Link JetStream TL-SG3428MP 24-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch with SFP. However, the included rack mount kit was designed to be compatible with standard rack mounting configurations.

Q: 6. Can I run normal CAT5/6 cable from one of the SFP ports to another router/switch's RJ45 port?

A: An Ethernet cable cannot be inserted directly into an SFP fiber port. You would require an adapter such as BH #TPTLSM5310T to facilitate that connection.

Q: 7. Is the TP-Link TL-SG1024DE 24-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch a POE switch?

A: Unfortunately no. It would be a challenge to find a 24 port POE switch at this price point. If your need is only a few ports, you could supplement this with a small switch that provides a few POE ports (i.e. 8 port switch with 4 POE ports), or utilize POE injectors.

Q: 8. Can it be controller from Omada OC200/300 controller?

A: No, the TP-Link TL-SG108E 8-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch is not an Omada compatible switch.

Q: 9. TP-Link rep, what switch is your most inexpensive managed switch?

A: That would be the TL-SF1005D. If you are looking for a sub $20 Gigabit switch look at the LS1005G

Q: 10. What is in the box ??

A: TP-Link TL-SG1016DE 16-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch box has Power Cord, Resource CD, Rubber Feet, Rackmount Kit, Limited 5-Year Warranty.

[192 W] My existing switch was becoming a bottleneck as we had more devices supporting Gb ethernet and starting to transfer large files. We pulled that out of our rack and dropped this one in and had nice fast transfers in a matter of minutes. Ou building cable plant was Cat5 but it still managed to get Gb speeds between network segments. Sometime we'll start adding some IP phones so I opted for the slightly more expensive PoE model as a future-proofing method, but haven't really tested that out.

[8] This switch is just the right size and does what we need, works great. Plug and Play just like it says and the price was right.

B&H did a great job from the website to the price of the switch, to the very fast delivery. Will use them again for sure.

[28.2 W (Active)] Good small switch for POE+ applications (WAP and VOIP). Price is reasonable, also.

[9,000 Bytes] I have a bunch of POE equipment in a location that is about an hour away and occasionally a glitch occurs which requires a power down reboot. With my former un-managed switches I'd have to make the trek over to do a physical reboot. Now after using the managed switches for about 8 weeks I can do it from pretty much anywhere. Makes life much easier and all for a pretty modest price. I'll definitely pick up a couple more of these.

[56 Gb/s ] I used four of these to create a distributed network in an office suite for VoIP telephones and data connectivity. Having the SFP slots allowed for a fiber backbone leaving all the copper ports available. Be cautioned, though, that they come with a default IP address that you should change so as not to have any conflicts.

[8] The switch is very high end in comparison to the price. Many different configuration options and several features that only really high end switches have. Well worth the price so far. Will try the PoE functionality soon. The set up was simple and accessibility was easy to figure out.

[9.3 lb] Not for the average household, but perfect for mine.
I love the feature where you can measure and find out if any of your network cables has a fault. Replace the ones it shows has issues to get a much better home network.
