A: The ClearSonic IsoPac B Isolation Package is quite effective at reducing the sound of drums being played and having the sound spill out to be picked up by microphones for vocals and other instruments, so it will be effective in reducing the sound throughout a house if the drums are located in the basement. Do keep in mind that the IsoPac B is not going to block out the sound completely.

A: Sure. No problem.

Q: 3. Has anyone tried using this outdoors on a boom pole as an inexpensive and portable sound blimp, even though it obviously wasn't designed for that purpose?

A: I have not heard of anyone using the Auray Iso-Armor 2 as a windscreen for boom poles. Typically a shotgun microphone would take sound from primarily the front of the microphone and the Auray Iso-Armor 2 is made for side address mirophones and blocking out background noise. It is not made to be used as a windscreen like a blimp would.

A: It really depends on how much weight the boom arm can support. The combined weight of the Auray ISO-ARMOR-2 and AT2035 is 2.2 lbs without including an XLR cable. The Heil Sound FL-2 Flange Mount is designed to work with the Heil Sound PL2T Overhead Studio and Broadcast Boom Mount (B&H # HEPL2T) which can support up to 3.5 lbs. Based on this information, if you are using the PL2T or a similar boom arm that is capable of supporting the weight, it should work. Regardless, it is still a substantial amount of weight for a boom arm, so I would recommend being very careful when moving the arm with the mic and isolation mount attached and avoid placing it where it may be accidentally bumped.

I wear hearing aids, so some damage has already been done. These headphones not only protect my ears, but keep me going and in the groove while I jam to my own music, without my hearing getting any worse. Pretty good sound quality too! Highly recommended! 5

[2" / 50 mm] I own a semi pro studio in Ransomville NY. I have tried other so called isolation headphones. The CAD DH100 phones reject outside noise better than some of the more expensive name brand models. Most drummers that record here go out and buy their own, once they use them. Buy a set...you won't be disappointed. 5

[1/4"] Comparing this to AKG K240 Studio monitoring headphones it is not as good. But it's very close. This was the only headphone I could find with a removable cable at this price point. Sound quality is very good but not excellent. This may be that I haven't broken the headphones in yet, but the sound stage is stiff and the treble with percussion is a bit muddled without good separation like on the AKG. These headphones have more emphasis on the low-end than the AKG 240's though. Comfort-wise these headphones fit better than AKG from the get-go -- it took awhile for the AKG's to loosen and stop squeezing my glasses to my head. However, I wish the pads were slightly bigger or oval shaped to fit the ears more comfortably. The padding is very soft. Another reviewer noted that the Polsen's 32ohm drivers cannot be driven by an iPad, but this is not the case. I had no issues when testing with normal volumes on an iPad Mini 2. The AKG K240's are 55 ohms in comparison and are decidedly quieter. A good purchase for good quality monitoring. 5

[1.32 lb] NOT JUST FOR DRUMMERS... I wear hearing aids, so protecting what’s left of my hearing is important to me, but I also love to jam to my music. I work in a loud factory and these are perfect for reducing the noise significantly, while still listening to my music. Sound quality is good and as long as you have thes on correctly, you can block out most sound and keep the music quiet, but still hear your tunes loud and clear. Great whenever I’m working on my car, right next to the loud air compressor too. The wife notices them because they make me literally deaf, which means they’re protecting the little bit of hearing I have left. Even she said they work well and she has sensitive hearing. They’re well made and I’m hoping they last a long time. Score for Vic Firth! I let other people at work try them, and they’re getting their own. 5
