The blue MeFOTO WalkAbout Air Monopod - Bluefrom MeFOTO WalkAbout Air Monopod - Blueis a "twist" on the classic WalkAbout monopod design—implementing MeFoto's HyperLock system to both reduce weight and simplify functionality.

Improving the monopod's ease-of-use, the HyperLock system reduces the amount of locking knobs from four to just one. All that's required to extend the WalkAbout's leg is to twist the foot, extend the leg, and then twist the foot again to lock the leg at the desired height. When at full working height the Walkabout Air can reach 59.1" and when fully collapsed it folds down to just 13.4" for transport or storage.

For those used to traditional lock designs, don't allow the HyperLock's looks to fool you—the WalkAbout Air is capable of supporting up to 22.1 lb of solid camera gear—and weighs only 0.9 lb. The WalkAbout, as its name implies, can even double as a walking stick for outdoor excursions. The top portion of the monopod is wrapped with a translucent silicon hand grip just for this purpose and an adjustable hand strap is included to make sure the monopod, and your gear, don't get away from you.

Although the WalkAbout is designed for direct camera mounting, it's 1/4"-20 mounting thread can be adapted to fit small heads or quick release clamps if required. Additionally, the top section's anodized-aluminum exterior is available in seven different colors and offers some light resistance to everyday wear and tear.

Q: 5. Does this fit a Peak Design Arca style plate?

Q: 6. How much weight can you add for balast?

A: MeFoto states that the maximum load capacity indicated for the MeFOTO BackPacker Air Travel Tripod would include weight added as ballast on the bottom of the center column. The maximum load capacity for the MeFOTO BackPacker Air Travel Tripod is 8.8 lbs. While it may be possible to slightly exceed the limit without adverse effects, it is recommended to stay as close to the maximum load capacity as possible. [1.25 lb] I used this monopod with a Manfrotto ball head attached and Canon 70-200 mm on a 7D MK II to shoot tennis. It took a bit of practice to get accostomed to the set up of the monopod, but once I got the idea, it was easy up and easy down. I really liked the small size and light weight. It really helped me to get sharp photos. So far, great product.

[6] Great design. No external knobs or levers, twist to unlock and twist to lock. Holds a Nikon D7200 with the 70-200 just fine.
