Engineered to Al Nagler's uncompromising standards but at an entry-level price, the long-focal length Tele Vue 20mm Plossl Eyepiece 1.25"produces a relatively low magnification on most OTAs for both near and deep-sky observations.

It is made using diffraction-limiting high-index glass lenses in a 4-element/2-group configuration to keep light on-axis and reduce astigmatism and edge-aberrations across its entire 50° apparent field of view. Fully multi-coated optics, blackened lens elements, and anti-reflection threads complement the optical components to improve contrast and light transmission, while limiting its loss. Its generous 14mm eye relief allows users the room to back off slightly from the eyecup for a more comfortable viewing experience with a reduced risk of accidental contact with the eyepiece lens which can cause vibrations and interfere with views. Ideal for fast-focal ratio OTAs, the eyepiece features a standard 1.25" barrel to be compatible with the most popular size of focuser and accessories, with a convenient fold-down rubber eyecup. This model of the Plossl series is parfocal with all Tele Vue Group 'B' eyepieces, allowing you to change compatible eyepieces without having to refocus — saving time and limiting vibrations.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hi.. Hello,How can I use this eyepiece with Canon Kiss-X2?

A: It should work if you have the correct Canon T-Thread adapter for your Kiss-X2

Q: 2. Are the Delos eyepieces par-focal?

A: Yes they are par focal with many other Televue eyepieces. Go to the televue site and look at the chart of eyepiece specifications. Scan the column 4G . Eyepieces with the same letter in that column are parfocal. So most of the Delos ep's have the letter B . You will see that some other types of TV eyepieces also have the letter B . All those are par focal.

Q: 3. Is it advisable to use a barlow lense with Televue eyepieces?

A: This is a fairly high powered Eyepiece. I would only go with a Barlow if you had a Scope with a large Objective around 8", and up.

Q: 4. What is country of origin ? Tele Vue 13mm Ethos 2 / 1.25 Eyepiece with 100 degree.

A: Taiwan, Republic of China

Q: 5. Good day,I got a Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 last week and from the reading it seems that it would benefit greatly from better eyepieces than the supplied stock ones. The telescope has Focal Length 2350 mm and Focal Ratio 10.I'm reading good things about the TeleVue Ethos.I was thinking about getting the Ethos 21mm. Would that be a good choice for my telescope? Also the Ethos SX 4.7mm, but maybe it would be too much power for my telescope? The supplied stock 13mm seems quite shaky as it is, using it from my apartment balcony. For the Ethos 21mm I would need 2 diagonal. Would TeleVue 2 Everbrite Diagonal - Satin be a good choice? Would it fit my telescope?Or maybe the Meade Series 5000 Dielectric Diagonal (2 ) as it seems to be supplied with Schmidt-Cassegrain to 2 adapter?Would there be a big difference between these two diagonals in the picture quality or not really on my telescope? What is the advantage of getting Ethos 21mm and Ethos 10mm versus Ethos 21mm and a 2x Barlow?Any advise/recommendations would be appreciated.Thanks.Regards,Andrej

A: I would personally go with the 21mm Ethos model. The 4.7mm will be overkill I think. You could still use it, but you would notice some shake for sure. I would go with the Meade 5000 Series for the Diagonal that would be a better choice. Q: 6. Is this a good eyepiece and is it compatible with the Celestron Nexstar 105 GT telescope?

A: Televue Panoptics are excellent eyepieces. Very sharp, clear images. To determine if an eyepiece is compatible with your telescope you first need to calculate your telescope's Maximum True Field of View, then calculate the eyepiece's True field of View. Eyepieces that have a True Field of View greater than your telescope's Maximum True Field of View will cutoff the image and have chromatic aberrations around the edges. Generally speaking, it does not hurt to go a little over tFOV with quality eyepieces, but the more the eyepiece's tFOV is over the telescopes's max tFOV more of the image is cutoff and the worse the chromatic aberrations get around the edges. There are several very good free eyepiece calculators available on the web to calculate Max tFOV, and help determine eyepiece compatibility.

Q: 7. how do you know what type of eye piece works best with your telescope? Is there a rule or formula to calculate it, if you work with refractor/reflector, and if you add a barlow lens?

A: For example, to calculate maximum power of a telescope, a 90mm diameter scope will have a 180 maximum power. Please call in for further info .

Q: 8. B&H review note says Delos 8mm eyepiece is parfocal with GROUP B, what is that?

A: That is referring to compatible Parfocal Group 'B' Eyepieces. Here is a list of those eyepieces: 8 - 32mm Plossl eyepieces All DeLite eyepieces 19 & 24mm Panoptic eyepieces 3.5 - 12mm Delos eyepieces 16mm Nagler 5 eyepiece All 1.25" Nagler 6 series eyepieces

Q: 9. What's the condition of Ethos EP?

A: The USED Tele Vue Ethos 13mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepiece (1.25"/2") Used Cat #2699851 • MFR #ETH-13.0 Condition: 9 Minor surface marks Very good condition; overall looks clean but may have minor signs of use/surface marks. There are no scratches or blemishes to the optics.

Q: 10. Are Televue Ethos eyepieces made in USA? Ie are they NAFTA qualified?

A: The Tele Vue Ethos-SX 3.7mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepieces, are made in Taiwan, and are not NAFTA qualified.

[1.25"] I received this eyepiece with a new TeleVue TV-85 refractor telescope. It is a wonderful eyepiece. Clear, bright, contrasty and sharp with decent eye relief. I ordered an extra one so I can use them with binoviewers. Recommended.

[20mm] Even with a short tune achromat scope and the powermate 2.5, the views are tack sharp and as good as could be. The 15mm shines in the plossl series. I'm not saying the other pieces are not good; they are all superb eye pieces, but there is something about this one that stands above the rest.

[2.9 x 2 x 2"] I have enjoyed my Tele Vue Plossl 20mm Eyepiece. The 20mm is an excellent size eyepiece for viewing full moons, Nebulas, and Messiers. A great product, I would recommend. A quality eyepiece.

[14.0 mm] As someone who's been involved in amatuer astronomy for a long time, eyepieces had always been an area I skimped on so I decided to start down the road of quality. Tele Vue eyepieces are pricey, but they're well worth the money. This 32mm Plossl (and a new dielectric diagonal) probably almost doubled the view quality in an Orion ST80. The stars are pinpoints with much better contrast versus the included eyepieces. I also tried it out in a Celestron C6 and likewise, improved the views quite a bit. If you're looking for a great jump into the Tele Vue line, these are a great starting point.

[50°] Bought this for a wide field eyepiece with a 102 Mak.  It is simple, clear, and beautiful.  Balances well on a small scope.

[20mm] When I purchased my TeleVue TV-85 refractor telescope it came with one of these 20mm Plossl oculars. When I realized how well the eyepiece performed I purchased another so I could pair them for binoviewing. The views through this eyepiece are clear and sharp with good contrast. I have many other eyepieces but this is one of my favorites. Highly recommended.

[0.275 lb] I just used this eyepiece last night at a dark sky site in the Sandhills. This Plossl is a good intermediate magnification with my long focal length Mewlon 180c reflector. It's also useful with my Takahashi FC-100 refractor. Televue's 20mm was used often last night. I really think these Televue Plossls are a good fit for even the best telescopes. You can see the difference.

[2.9 x 2 x 2"] This is a very good eyepiece but only slightly better than the 32mm Meade 4000 Plossl. It has slightly better contrast and slightly better performance near the edges of the field than the Meade 4000.
