Engineered to Al Nagler's uncompromising standards but at an entry-level price, the medium-focal length Tele Vue 15mm Plossl Eyepiece (1.25")produces a moderate magnification on most OTAs for both near and deep-sky observations.

It is made using diffraction-limiting high-index glass lenses in a 4-element/2-group configuration to keep light on-axis and reduce astigmatism and edge-aberrations across its generous 50° apparent field of view. Fully multi-coated optics, blackened lens elements, and anti-reflection threads complement the optical components to improve contrast and light transmission, while limiting its loss. Its 10mm eye relief allows users the room to back off slightly from the eyecup for a more comfortable viewing experience with a reduced risk of accidental contact with the eyepiece lens which can cause vibrations and interfere with views. Ideal for fast-focal ratio OTAs, the eyepiece features a standard 1.25" barrel to be compatible with the most popular size of focuser and accessories, with a convenient fold-down rubber eyecup. This model of the Plossl series is parfocal with all Tele Vue Group 'B' eyepieces, allowing you to change compatible eyepieces without having to refocus — saving time and limiting vibrations.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are Televue Ethos eyepieces made in USA? Ie are they NAFTA qualified?

A: The Tele Vue Ethos-SX 3.7mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepieces, are made in Taiwan, and are not NAFTA qualified.

Q: 2. B&H review note says Delos 8mm eyepiece is parfocal with GROUP B, what is that?

A: That is referring to compatible Parfocal Group 'B' Eyepieces. Here is a list of those eyepieces: 8 - 32mm Plossl eyepieces All DeLite eyepieces 19 & 24mm Panoptic eyepieces 3.5 - 12mm Delos eyepieces 16mm Nagler 5 eyepiece All 1.25" Nagler 6 series eyepieces

Q: 3. What I feel that needs to be better explained about eyepieces and focal lengths as in 6mm or 25mm is that the opening is tiny for 6 mm as compared with 25mm that is wider . The lower the focal length the difficult it gets to train your eye throughthe opening due to its tiny opening. My child experience with my first kid telescope that came with 6mm and 25mm eyepieces told me that 25mm is more enjoyable to use despite lower magnification than the higher magnifying 6mm which is so restrictive in the opening for my eye to keep peeking through as steadiily as I can. I think that a minimum of 10mm is acceptable to me or maybe 12mm. . Am I correct?

A: Yes that is correct. 10 or 12mm will be okay. It also depends on how large of an aperture your scope has. The bigger front opening of the scope the brighter the image.

Q: 4. Could I use this with my Meade 125 etc?

A: If your telescope has a 1.25 eyepiece opening then this eyepiece will work. To determine if your scope does I will need to know the exact Meade Model that you have.

Q: 5. What's the condition of Ethos EP?

A: The USED Tele Vue Ethos 13mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepiece (1.25"/2") Used Cat #2699851 • MFR #ETH-13.0 Condition: 9 Minor surface marks Very good condition; overall looks clean but may have minor signs of use/surface marks. There are no scratches or blemishes to the optics.

Q: 6. Is it advisable to use a barlow lense with Televue eyepieces?

A: This is a fairly high powered Eyepiece. I would only go with a Barlow if you had a Scope with a large Objective around 8", and up.

Q: 7. How will this TV 32 mm plossl work in a Celestron C5 spotting scope?

A: The Celestron C5 127mm f/10 50x Spotting Scope (OTA Only) BH #CEC5SB • MFR #52291 came with a 25mm eyepiece The Tele Vue Plossl 32mm Eyepiece (1.25") BH #TEEPL32P • MFR #EPL-32.0 is a upgrade eyepiece becaus og better glass and coatings on the elements

Q: 8. Are the Delos eyepieces par-focal?

A: Yes they are par focal with many other Televue eyepieces. Go to the televue site and look at the chart of eyepiece specifications. Scan the column 4G . Eyepieces with the same letter in that column are parfocal. So most of the Delos ep's have the letter B . You will see that some other types of TV eyepieces also have the letter B . All those are par focal.

Q: 9. how do you know what type of eye piece works best with your telescope? Is there a rule or formula to calculate it, if you work with refractor/reflector, and if you add a barlow lens?

A: For example, to calculate maximum power of a telescope, a 90mm diameter scope will have a 180 maximum power. Please call in for further info .

Q: 10. Hello,Is this lens compatible with the Celestron 6SE telescope?Many thanks

A: I bought the lens about a month but have no chance to view through it yet. However I did try fitting it to my Celestron 8SE telescope which has a 1.25 diagonal and I did not have any problem.

[15mm] Very clear view of planetary detai, and comfortable to view through.

[50°] This is the recommend eyepiece by Daystar Filters to use with the Quark Filters on SCT. The contrast is better than the other eyepiece I tested for this purpose.

[10.0 mm] I use this with a 90mm Coronado H Alpha solar telescope and the viewing is crisp, prominences show great detail. I also tried it with a 25 Obsession telescope and the views were very good for a Plossl eyepiece.

[10.0 mm] I bought this to upgrade the 25 mm Plössl from Celestron that came with my telescope. The FOV is a little bigger. But the most noticeable difference is the optics. Saturn is tiny at such a low magnification, but it's tack sharp. Well worth it.

[12.6 mm] As someone who's been involved in amatuer astronomy for a long time, eyepieces had always been an area I skimped on so I decided to start down the road of quality. Tele Vue eyepieces are pricey, but they're well worth the money. This 32mm Plossl (and a new dielectric diagonal) probably almost doubled the view quality in an Orion ST80. The stars are pinpoints with much better contrast versus the included eyepieces. I also tried it out in a Celestron C6 and likewise, improved the views quite a bit. If you're looking for a great jump into the Tele Vue line, these are a great starting point.

[10.0 mm] Hey, it's a Tele Vue. Well made, Great quality. Leaps and bounds better than the pieces that come with most scopes. Important to remember that your eyepiece is just as important as your primary optics.

[50°] When I purchased my TeleVue TV-85 refractor telescope it came with one of these 20mm Plossl oculars. When I realized how well the eyepiece performed I purchased another so I could pair them for binoviewing. The views through this eyepiece are clear and sharp with good contrast. I have many other eyepieces but this is one of my favorites. Highly recommended.

[0.235 lb] Bought this for a wide field eyepiece with a 102 Mak.  It is simple, clear, and beautiful.  Balances well on a small scope.

[12.6 mm] A simple plossl design. I use it on an f/5 newtonian 5 so it gives me a comfortable 3 mm exit pupil and has a 10 mm eye relief. With my scope, it is just right to observe the full disk of the sun or the moon, but still bring in a fairly wide field of starts too.

[1.25"] Even with a short tune achromat scope and the powermate 2.5, the views are tack sharp and as good as could be. The 15mm shines in the plossl series. I'm not saying the other pieces are not good; they are all superb eye pieces, but there is something about this one that stands above the rest.
