Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i add more than one wireless speaker? I need to be able to add up to 6.

A: According to the manual only a powered speaker can be added by using a 1/4 inch instrument cable. Either that or the unit can be linked to another system of the same kind.

Q: 2. Can a bluetooth device beyond the headset connect to the speaker? For example, could it be connected to a bluetooth headphone set so that a student who is hard of hearing could have the sound directly into their ear while it was also broadcast over the speakers?

A: The Samson Expedition XP106wDE can play audio from Bluetooth devices, but it cannot send audio over Bluetooth to devices such as headphones. The included wireless microphone does not use Bluetooth, but rather a 2.4 GHz digital wireless connection similar to WiFi.

Q: 3. what is batter life and how long does it take to recharge?

A: The XP106 has an internal, rechargeable battery capable of up to 20 hours of continuous audio on a full charge. Even though the system may have some charge when first taken out of the box, we recommend fully charging your XP106 before first using the system. An overnight charge as with a cell phone should be fine. FYI, The XP106 utilizes a sealed lead-acid gel cell battery. When not in use, the battery will slowly self-discharge. If you are planning not to use the XP106 for a long period of time, it is advised to fully charge the unit before storing. It is also important to charge the unit every six months when not used. This will ensure a healthy battery and extend its life. If the battery is left with a very low charge for an extended period of time, it is possible to recharge thebattery to working condition, but the charge time can take over 24 hours.

Q: 4. Is it possible to purchase a lavalier mic to work with this system?

A: The Samson LM5 Lavalier is a perfect addition to the Portable PA Kit with Wireless Headset and Handheld Microphone.

Q: 5. Has anyone mounted this speaker to a stand? If so, which would you recommend?

A: The Samson Expedition XP106w features a standard 1 3/8 pole mount on the bottom of the unit for compatibility with most PA speaker stands. The Auray ss-4420 is a solid choice at a reasonable price.

Q: 6. I am planning on buying 2 of these systems, is there a chance of cross-talk between them with having fixed frequencies?

A: This system can operate up to two wireless systems simultaneously in the same area. Since this kit already includes two wireless systems (A handheld and a lavalier), adding a third wireless, will NOT be possible.

Q: 7. There is only 1 USB port. Is there any way to use both the hand-held and the lapel mic at the same time?

A: Hello, Thank you for contacting Samson Technologies. With this bundle, you would only be able to connect one RXD wireless receiver to the speaker which can pair to one wireless transmitter (either the handheld or belt pack.) As this comes with a second XPD system, you will have the options to change over to an alternate transmitter (either the belt pack or handheld) and have a back-up receiver as well. If you have any other questions or inquiries, please let me know at any time. Best Regards, James (Product Specialist)

Q: 8. Do you wear the microphone on your head of around your neck?

A: The mic included in this kit is a Samson DE5 dual-ear headset, made to wear around the head. The two loops will support the headset on the user's ears.

Q: 9. Would it be possible to get a second xpd1 and a usb hub to have 2 wireless lapel microphones going at the same time? Or would I need to find another wireless lapel mic transmitter/receiver and put it in one of the secondary inputs?

A: Unfortunately you cannot add an additional mic to this system. You can only use the one it comes with.

Q: 10. Beside running on battery power, is this unit capable of operating on AC power?

A: Yes - via the included AC adapter.

[22 lb] I always wanted a small portable PA system, with battery and enough power. Finally, I found it, plus extras that I did not care before, such as a wireless system and Bluetooth. The specific usage is for Christmas Caroling, to play the music tracks for the choir of about 20 people. Expedition XP106 met and exceeded my expectations. It has plenty power (100 watts), a clear and well balance output, and two features that make caroling a breeze. The music tracts can be in my iPhone, which can be sent them to the unit via Bluetooth with no wiring in between, plus, this units comes with a wireless microphone with a small receptor which it is connected to the back of the unit, via USB. The sound of the microphone is very natural and can be played (as we tested, from around 20 feet. The charge, according to the manufacturer can last up to 20 hours, all in a compact unit that is easy to carry and set. Nothing is perfect, thou. I would love to have at least a three points equalizer. I don't think there is a similar unit that matches its specs, including brand name recognition. Great unit. Love it.

[22 lb] As a school library media specialist, I work in a large space with many students. Originally we ordered the system for use with guest speakers and large meetings, but now I use it every day. The amplification helps students hear directions and attend, without having to raise my voice. The wireless headset is very lightweight and easy to clip onto a lanyard.
