Canon's EOS C200 EF Cinema Camera features a built-in EVF, 4" LCD screen, top handle, Super35 CMOS sensor and Dual Pixel autofocus. The EF lens mount on the EOS C200 offers compatibility not only with Canon's existing broad range of DSLR lenses but also with their line of EF-mount CN-E cinema prime and zoom lenses. The Super35 sensor is paired with Canon's Dual DIGIC DV 6 image processor, allowing it to capture and record up to DCI 4K resolution.

The C200 can also record Canon's Cinema RAW Light internally via its single CFast card slot. The camera also incorporates two SD card slots for recording UHD 4K/HD MP4 video. A built-in EVF enables the camera to maintain a small footprint when you shoot. However, the included removable 4" LCD screen as well as the included top handle and camera grip make this camera versatile for larger shoots. You can output video via the camera's SDI output, and the built-in XLR connectors provide two channels of audio at line, mic, and mic+48V level. A built-in Ethernet connector provides input/output control.

Modeled on the Super35 motion picture film standard, the Canon CMOS sensor has an active image size of 24.4 x 13.5mm. It features 4096 x 2160 resolution to deliver Cine 4K images, as well as supporting Ultra HD (3840 x 2160), and Full HD (1920 x 1080).

Provides continuous AF function for all autofocus lenses, using Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. A new AF Lock setting also lets you change the image framing while holding the desired focus. This feature is ideal for users who regularly shoot with smaller crews, who shoot moving subjects, or who want smoother, more natural-looking autofocus.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology features a CMOS sensor that consists of an array of pixels that each feature two separate photodiodes. By continuously comparing their outputs during AF mode, phase-difference autofocus helps ensure non-blurred images and smooth focus transitions even when the talent and/or camera are moving. The new feature places a high priority on maintaining sharp focus while providing a natural, smooth autofocus movement with select Canon EF lenses - including newer-generation STM lenses - which offer even smoother and quieter operation.

The C200 features a dynamic range of approximately 13 stops, and an ISO range of 160 to 25,600. You can also select an expanded ISO range of 100 to 102,400. It supports Wide DR Gamma, Canon Log, and Canon Log 3.

The camera features Dual DIGIC DV 6 processors to handle the internal data processing.

The EOS C200 features a built-in 0.46", 1.23MP color EVF and 100% field of view coverage for comfortable viewing and accurate judgment of composition, focus, and color. The angle of the viewfinder is adjustable for additional user comfort.

Included with the C200 is a removable 4" Touchscreen LCD viewfinder. Also included with the C200 is a camera control handgrip as well as a removable top handle.

Built directly into the C200 are two XLR audio inputs with +48V phantom power, and a 3.5mm microphone terminal is also built into the camera. Audio is recorded uncompressed in 16-bit PCM format at 48 kHz for high-fidelity sound. Both XLR inputs as well as the mic terminal have the option for automatic as well as manual gain control.

This codec allows you to record raw data internally to a CFast 2.0 card via the camera's single CFast card slot. The CFast card slot enables capturing DCI 4K in Canon's Cinema RAW Light format.

  • UHD 4K and Full HD recording onto SD cards is available via the two SD card slots.
  • Slow-motion recording, pre-recording, frame recording, interval recording

Relay recording, double slot recording

You can choose to record at 120/100p when recording in Full HD.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I come 4K HDMI out to a Blackmagic Switcher?

A: Any HDMI switcher, including any HDMI Blackmagic switcher, will take the signal of this camera.

Q: 2. Whis is the non raw considered non-broadcast ? Isn't the C300 MKI 8bit and still used for broadcast work ?

A: Broadcast standards generally require a bit rate of 50Mbps. The C300 Mark I's HD could do 50 Mbps. The C200's best HD (1920 x 1080) bit rate can only do 35 Mbps.

Q: 3. Will Canon be adding digital image stabilization as a firmware upgrade so that we can use faster lenses than their IS lenses?

A: Internal IS would require a mechanically driven sensor. No firmware would be able to do that. Canon has not announced any IS for this camera.

Q: 4. Can the EVF of the Canon EOS C200 EF be installed in the Canon EOS C200B EF?

A: No, it is not possible at home or in the field to put a C200 EVF on the C200B. It would have to be done by Canon and is expensesive. The reasonable alternative is to get a quality EVF or monitor.

Q: 5. Does the c300 helmet work on the c200?

A: If you are referring to the Zacuto Helmets for the C Series of cameras than I'm afraid not. At this time we do not have a Zacuto C200 helmet, however it is a good bet they will be offering one in the near future. Please keep an eye on our website for new product releases.

Q: 6. Note a little magenta in some videos I saw, you know if it is possible that canon fix this with an update?

A: Color cast can come from many places. I would regard any video less than corporate on the internet as having possible artifacts. If you were to get a C200 whose color cannot be adjusted to your liking, it is likely a service issue and would need adjustment by a Canon service center.

Q: 7. can you use a rode ntg 2 on the mic holder supplied?

A: Yes, you will be able to use a Rode NTG 2 Microphone in the included mic holder. However it is possible that the mic will be loose in the holder, so we recommend Sanken ROCS Rubber O-Rings, B&H # SAROCS. These will give you a snug connection when putting any shotgun microphone in the mic holder on the C200.https://bhpho.to/2yA6NJc

Q: 8. hello most excellent Bh dudes!i have a question? What will the eosc200b need to use out of the box? How would you operate a camera with out a monitor?

A: You will need a monitor to operate the C200B. The C200B is really designed for use on a Motorized Gimbal and goes under the assumption that you will be using a Monitor on that gimbal. You will also need a lens and cabling. If you want an option that is ready to go out of the box, you will want to look at B&H # CAC20024105 which is the full C200 with a 24-105mm lens. You'd just need memory cards and you'd be good to go with this product.https://bhpho.to/2wu0re0

Q: 9. Is there a longer cable that could be purchased to go from body to monitor?

A: Because the cable is very complex due to the C200 monitor being touch screen, the only cable Canon offers is very expensive. If you need an off camera monitor, we suggest getting a conventional monitor and using an HDMI or SDI cable.

Q: 10. Is this 24-105mm kit lens autofocus and stabilization quiet enough for indoor shooting or will an external mic pick up on its noise? If it is too loud for professional video what quiet zoom lens do you recommend?

A: While we do not think the noise from the Auto Focus will be too distracting with the 24-105mm Kit lens, it will not be silent. The only Canon lenses that are silent for the Auto Focus are their STM lenses. https://bhpho.to/2vb9uAf

[Canon EF] I had my eye on one of these for quite a while. With the price drop I couldn't resist it. It's going to replace my basic C100 that I bought to try a cine style camera. Love that it does 4K 60p to SD cards, love that it outputs raw on the HDMI port. Not in love with all the bits and pieces it has: Why do you need two power adapters, one for the camera, one for the battery charger? The top handle is a bit clunky to put together and install but once it's there it's OK. I'd like to see it be a little bit lower profile. Lots of places to mount accessories on it that I'll never use. The LCD needs a hood as it's not very bright in daylight. But the eyepiece more than makes up for that if you can shoot that way. Very happy with it, however, and I expect to make it my workhorse camera.

[Canon EF] Loads of flexibility with this kit. These 3 lenses are great, but the 50mm is probably the slowest to focus of the bunch.
