If I can get away with 70 mm or longer, I ALWAYS bear the weight and use my 70-200 f/2.8. I just like the images it produces more than those I get from my 24-120 f/4. If you were making the move from a kit lens to the 14-120, I think you would be happy. Being used to the amazing quality of the images from the 2.8 series, I doubt that you would ever be satisfied with the 24-120, f/4. If I had the 24-70 f/2.8, I think that I would sell my 24-120.
