Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it power a sump pump? I would like to have it as a stand by if my power goes out?

A: Yes. As long as it is 110v. I use it to pump water from a well. The duration will depend on the watts the pump pulls.

Q: 2. will it power a 15W guitar amp?

A: Sure will, but not for very long depending on the volume level you are using.

Q: 3. Can it power a battery maintainer for a vehicle in storage?

A: This has a 396Wh AGM Lead Acid Battery. It also has standard AC Power Connection. From there you will need to determine if these specs will work for you battery maintainer.

Q: 4. I have a Yeti400 the battery says 100%. Output is 29. I can plug in the zero lanterns and my cell phone. However, when I plug in a very small fan or lamp it will not turn on. I have removed everything else I can’t get the wattage? Is it the battery?

A: This product may be defective. Please contact us: B&H Customer Service Team: Call: 800.221.5743 or 212.239.7765 Email : cs@bhphotovideo.com

Q: 5. Can this power up a laserjet printer, monitor and a CPU? If so, for how long?

A: Most UPS manufacturers discourage connecting a laser printer to their equipment due to their excessive startup power requirements. The Yeti 400 would fall under the same restrictions for the same reason. The 400 watt rating is 400 watt hours so drawing 40 watts per hour it would provide 10 hours, 10 watts per hour would give you 40 hours etc. Many devices have a high startup requirement and taper off during their use... The average hourly rate has to be considered to come up with a meaningful serviceable duration. I use it to run LED lighting, charging iPhones, iPads and a Mac computer. Recharge it during the day with 4 Boulder 30 Solar Panels. This is an optimum usage because most of the usage is at night and the topping off of the charge is during the day. Find it usually fully recharged by the time we get up in the morning.

Q: 6. Will it run my fridge

A: That really depends on what size and type of fridge you want to power. It has a maximum power output of 300 watts (AC) and 120 watts (12V DC), so your fridge would have to be within these limits. To give you an idea how long it may run, most dorm fridges run at about 30 watts per hour, so you could expect to power one for 13 hours. A full-sized fridge would be significantly less. The Q&A section of the Goal Zero website is very helpful at answering such questions

Q: 7. Can this generator power a Aputure Nova & 200X simultaneously?

A: No, the GOAL ZERO Yeti 400 Portable Power Station is not strong enough. The lights combined draw at full power, around 560 watts. And that GOAL ZERO, total Continuous, 160 W Max at Short-Duration.

Q: 8. In the height of day. How long would the battery take to charge full with solar pannel?

A: Boulder 30 Solar Panel: 26-52 hours. So with the included Boulder 50 probably closer to 18 to 40 hours.

Q: 9. Does the GOAL ZERO Yeti 400 Solar Generator come with a solar panel?

A: It does not. These panels are sold as separate extension accessories. If you click on our Accessories recommended for this model it will list the compatible model for this Generator.

Q: 10. Can I use this to power plug-in strobes like an Einstein E640?

A: Im not familiar with the strobes or their power consumption. The goal zero sight gives you more details under the question and answer section

[25.13 lb] Extremely useful in remote locations. I’ve been using it to power LED fixtures on set for anything under 300w. In conjunction with the (notably durable) solar panel it’s an excellent system for camera systems with AC compatibility or LED fixtures.

[25.13 lb] When searching for a power station, the number one key is longevity and safety. There is a vast of high energy power station out there on Lithium battery technology, which can be dangerous, especially when stored outside in the summer.

This Goal Zero is the perfect fit because it uses a led acid battery. Benefits are chaining, low volatility, and when the battery reaches its life, I can easily go to the store and get a replacement battery instead of looking for a new power station. I am extremely happy with this purchase and recommend it over any other power station.

[25.13 lb] So far, this unit suits my needs perfectly for the price. Have several other power packs, some that'll even jump start your vehicle, but as for clean power needs for devices in the field, this unit is tops. Yeti makes a smaller, and a much more powerful device, so research your needs properly. My use is for sportscasting, and if you're in this field, you know you sometimes have to take a broadcast location that's not so hot based on the necessity of AC plug-in availability. Either that or plug in at the end of mile of extension cord and the hope that some bored kid wandering aimlessly doesn't happen upon the other end of the orange mile and yank the plug. Since most radio (and even basic video) sportscasting equipment doesn't require a whole lot of juice, this Yeti grants you freedom of broadcast location. (Be aware its weight will lengthen your arm a bit, and you will need to tote it up however many risers you need to ascend.) If you blend this unit wisely with your typical broadcasting gear that utilizes on-board or handheld battery packs, you should be able to do women/men basketball double headers as well as softball or baseball doubleheaders with battery life to spare. Especially nice when sportscasting diamond sports on the road without benefit of a broadcast booth, which is quite common (and even preferred) at most non-major college level ballparks. Make sure you include the Yeti in your plans to protect gear from moist weather as most electrical devices don't mix well with rain and/or puddles. An additional plus regarding this Yeti is that you can leave it plugged in a home without worry between sports broadcasts as on-board technology protects it from any type of overcharging issues.
