Convert from an analog to a digital surveillance system by using the C Series VS8100-V2 D1 1-Channel Analog-to-Digital Video Server from Vivotek. This device offers H.264 and MJPEG video compression at a resolution of 720 x 480 at up to 30 fps, and converts analog video sources to a compressed digital signal. There is support for a myriad of analog cameras, including PTZ cameras that can be controlled via a built-in RS-485 port.

Additionally, there is support for up to three simultaneous streams with individually configured frame rates, resolutions, and image quality. Five-window video motion detection enables you to customize motion detection for monitoring specific areas. One-way audio is possible thanks to an external microphone input.

The device is ONVIF-compliant with Profile S, making it compatible with a wide range of surveillance products.

[H.264, MJPEG] Before getting this unit, I ran my four amplified audio speakers from the headphone jack on my iMac. Using audio for editing in Final Cut Pro, but also watching movies at night, I had a nest of splitters separating the stereo lines to the various speakers and also to my headphones. A friend suggested the quality would be better with a digital audio converter, so I purchased this one. I am thrilled with it. I ran all the wires under my editing table and the master volume knob is right there at the front of my desk where I can adjust it when the volume gets too loud (Bruce Willis movies, etc.) And the headphone jack is right where I need it, cutting out the amplified speakers just by plugging it in. Its the most useful addition to my computer in a long time. 5

I was about to spend money to upgrade my speakers when I read a review about this DAC and decided to try it. NOW my Bose speakers sound great for way less money than I was going to spend on replacement speakers. Makes my headphones sound better, too. 5

[0.245 lb] Theses small single channel video servers are great for reducing the cost of a license plate reader camera to be used with a NVR. I will allow you to use a less expensive analog LPR camera. 5
