Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this create vignetting at 16mm when put on Sony 16-35mm GM lens?

A: It is not unusual to experience vignetting when using ultra wide lenses.

Q: 2. Any problems with vignetting or .. for the Tamron 28-75 lens? Any problem putting on the Tamron lens cap?

A: The Heliopan 67mm SH-PMC Protection Filter is not a thin or slim filter so it is not recommended for a 28mm wide lens. Instead this B+W would be recommended: https://bhpho.to/3yhnsyE

Q: 3. Does it come with a plastic case?

A: The Heliopan 67mm SH-PMC Protection Filter will come in the plastic case/product packaging from the manufacturer. Separate filter cases are sold separately.

Q: 4. If I put this filter on a Nikon Z 24-70mm "S" lens, will the lens hood fit (on and reversed)? Will I see vignetting? Thanks!

A: The Heliopan 82mm Circular Polarizer SH-PMC Filter is not thin so it would vignette the 24-70 lens. This B+W filter would be a better option because ti is thin and will work with the hood for your lens: https://bhpho.to/31bpvbp

Q: 5. Hi,What is the main difference between this filter and Heliopan 46mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter ?I see that the filter factor for this one is between 2.3 and 2.8For the High-Transmission version is 2.0. That means more quality for the High-Transmission one.Do both of them feature the index markings on the edge of the filter ring ?The High-Transmission one doesn't have a slim mount, does it ?!And one last question: do they have the same glass and coating ?Kind regards !

A: The main difference between the Multi-coated Heliopan 46mm Circular Polarizer and the 46mm High Transmission Circular Polarizer is the filter factor; the high transmission CP will have a filter factor of one stop, where the multi-coated has a factor of approximately 1.3 stops. Both filters feature index markings. The high transmission CP does not have a slim mount. Both filters have the same 16-layer coating, and are both produced from Schott glass.

Q: 6. Does this filter have front lens threads?

A: Yes, the Heliopan 40.5mm UV SH-PMC Filter has a 40.5mm front filter thread.

Q: 7. I understand this is a Slim Mount Design/Retains Front Threads . Can I put the 49mm snap on lens cap on the filter? This is for the Olympus OM 50 1.2 lens and lens cap.

A: Yes. Since the Heliopan 49mm Protection Filter has front threads, it will be able to grip a standard snap-on/pinch lens cap.

Q: 8. What is the thickness of this filter?

A: It is not a slim filter - but that is what I love about Heliopan = their construction! A fine piece of German glass encased in a brass ring that won't stick or bind. These are the only filters I put on my lenses.

Q: 9. Does it come with a case?

A: Yes, this filter comes with a plastic protection case.

Q: 10. Do you offer, or can you recommend a slip-on lens cap that will work with this filter? I am using this on a Nikon 28-70 AF-S lens (primarily).

A: Kaiser Slip-On Lens Caps would be great for this!

[Glass] I use this on my Zeiss 100mm Makro-Planar. It's a quality lens and this is a quality filter. I always take a deep breath when I buy Heliopan, expensive! But worth it if you have a great lens.

[UV] I only use Heliopan UV SH-PMC filters on my Canon L lenses. I own about 12 of these exact filters in different sizes. They use Schott glass (Zeiss) and are built like tanks with solid brass rings. They are very low profile (Heliopan calls them Slim Line) so you will not have any issues on any of your wide angle lenses. The only issue is related to placing your lens cap over the filter. These filters are so slim (which is very desirable), the Canon factory lens caps do not snap in perfectly. They do lock down adequately and will not fall off, but there is a little gap between the cap and the filter due to the low profile filter rim. As I said, this is not a problem, but it may bother some people. I am much happier Heliopan went for a minimalist approach on their filters. Less is more. These filters are not inexpensive, especially is you pay for the multi-coated SH-PMC versions, but they are worth the money. You get what you pay for. So true in this case.

[Glass] Heliopan filters are my favorite filters and I basically buy one when I by a new lens. In terms of IQ they produce the best results with minimal vignietting or distortion. highly recommended. The only downside is the price but it is well worth it. It is a one time expense that you have to make if you want your L lens to be safe and have pictures that are expected from an L lens!

[UV] I have several of Canon's L glass lenses and I can't imagine putting poor quality glass in front of my lens. Heliopan may be expensive -- but, I plan on this being a one time investment. The Super Multi-Coating will go a long way in the life of this filter and I think it's worth the extra cost. Bottom line: you get what you pay for ... and Heliopan (or B+W for that matter) is QUALITY through and through.

[55 mm] Use this filter on a Nikon 24-70 2.8. If you are going to spend alot on Pro lenses, don't skimp on filters.

[Glass] I use these on all my Nikon pro glass. Wouldn't go anywhere without it. Not the cheapest, but the best.

[Glass] I use it with my Leica 50mm and 28mm M. It is a slick, well made filter with a very small profile. My image quality has not deteriorated. I recommend this product.

[UV] Used during our family vacation to Oregon. Filter performed well on both sunny and overcast days. Would recommend and purchase again.

[UV] Expensive? yes. Maybe you could go with a cheaper version, but I bought this with my Canon 50mm L 1.2, and if I'm going to spend $1500 on a lens, I want to protect my image quality and investment.

[55 mm] I did not think there was a difference between the less expensive filters and the high quality Super Multi-Coated filters. There is. This filter produces excellent quality photographs while it serves as a lens protector. It accentuates the sky and clouds much better that my less expensive generic UV filters. I am changing all to Super Multi-Coated.
