The Tiffen 2x2" 85C Color Conversion Filterhelps to decrease the color temperature from 5500 to 3800K, allowing the use of tungsten-balanced film in daylight conditions. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch. It measures 2 x 2" / 50.8 x 50.8mm.

A: The Rosco # 3208 1/4 Blue CTB Color Conversion Gel Filter (20 x 24" Sheet) is heat resistant however keep in mind that any gel gets deformed after a full day of work, especially if placed close to the source.

A: These gels are heat resistant but will eventually fade and distort. I've only seen them melt when in direct contact (or very near proximity) with a halogen lamp. I think you'll be ok for awhile if the gel is on the outside of a lensed speed ring. Maybe check for sure with Rosco or Lee.

Q: 8. Will this fit a standard Canon lens, (any size)? Doesn't look like it. I have a blue lens with a 37mm lens diameter and don't know how to fit it on my lenses???

A: Tiffen 37mm 0.65x Wide-Angle Conversion Lens BH #TI.65WACL wouldn't fit on any of the standard size Canon interchangeable lens. Depending on what lens you have, you might have to use a step down adapter.

A: The Kodak 4 x 4" 85C Wratten 2 Optical Filter is made from a gelatin material.

A: You will actually need filters with 52mm threads for the Nikon 18-55mm lens.

[85C] My use of this filter is very unconventional but works great. By removing the metal ring, the glass itself is a perfect fit to drop right into the optics of the Stella Pro Reflex S lights allowing me to warm the color temperature of the lights to mix well into tungsten environments. 5

[85C] As always, Tiffen is pricy, but the manufacturing is flawless. The conversion to daylight is good but not as effective as with older E6 formulas. Aristas color reversal is a zero. Cinstills CS6 is far better but requires at least 2 85B filters for a fuller correction. Oh for the days of Tetenol!!! 5

[85C] I am experimenting with colors on film. This filter is definitely darker than the 85B, and therefore shows. Sometimes you need to skip or jump to a filter gradation order because they are too close in shade - but not this one. Haven't found anything negative. Tiffen filters are good and are readily available. 5

[85C] This is a necessary filter to shoot Tungsten film in daylight. I had a roll of 120 Cinestill800t film that I was shooting in both tungsten interiors and daylight exteriors so I wanted a filter to neutralize some of the color shifts shooting Tungsten in daylight exterior brings. While shooting tungsten film in daylight settings is able to be color corrected in post, that does equal time + work. Having an 85 filter definitely will speed up the post work flow. In regards to the different levels of 85 filter, B works great for me. I'm sure the other levels are to taste, but using 85 I didn't wish it were warmer or cooler after seeing the images I got back. 5

[Glass] When you run out of daylight film but have indoor (tungsten) film in the bag, The 85c filter will warm it up so you can shoot outside, a life saver for those special times you don't want to miss 5

[85C] I use the 80A all the time on my DSLRs with the WB set to daylight. That setting is right for interiors lit by incandescent. The strong correction of the 80A really comes into its own with mixed lighting, e.g. a large church interior with daylight coming through the windows. The light-loss is not small, but you will avoid hideous under-exposure & noise resulting from the meter's seeing light which is not useful. Other things being equal, everything including the areas lit by true daylight will be correctly exposed. B&H's price was reasonable and the shipping prompt and efficient. 5
