The LitraTorch 2.0 Photo Video Light | LITRAfrom LITRA is a small compact light fixture no larger than a GoPro Sessions camera. It features a daylight-balanced 5700K output in either strobe or continuous output with a CRI of 90. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and can be charged via its micro-USB charging port. The output is flicker-free at any of the three continuous output settings.

The light offers a runtime of 4 hours in low mode and 35 minutes in high mode. The 70° beam angle matches the camera view with no hot spots or harsh edges. The LitraTorch 2.0 can also be used with your camera for flicker-free slow-motion video recording. It also comes with two built-in 1/4"-20 standard mounting holes, an embedded magnet, a GoPro mount, belt clip, two magnetic mounts, a basic shoe mount, and slip-on diffusion. The fixture meets MIL-STD-810G standards and is water resistant down to 60'. In addition, it can withstand drops up to 4'.

A: The LitraPro has internal thermal management. It will dim 5% at at time if it reaches 160F degrees. It gets really warm but not hot enough to burn you.

A: The strobe is a daylight safety strobe. It is great for bikes (add red filter for rear) Also, many photographers use it for time lapse (long exposure) as it is 2,200 lumen vs the max output of continuous light of 800 lumen.

A: The LitraTorch 2.0 battery is rated for 700 charge cycles. If you charged the light twice a week it should last 6 years. However, many things can impact battery life, such as extreme temperatures and particularly leaving the light stored with a dead battery. Also store you light with a charged battery and make sure you charge it every 3 months if not using it to keep the battery in good health.

Q: 10. Can I use this with my Olympus OM D camera?

A: you can use this with any camera, it is not camera specific. It is NOT a flash device. It is more like a flashlight, you turn it on and illuminate your scene, then turn it off. It can be mounted on the flash shoe of a camera, but is ON or OFF, ie, does not sync with flash. I use mine on a small gorillapod to add a bit of light to what I am shooting.

[5600K] The LitraTorch 2.0 kit is a very quality kit. I also have purchased the Lume Cube light while it was on a deal of the day and if they discounted both of these items, I would purchase the LitraTorch Kit over the Lume Cube. The reasoning being the extra gels, larger coverage, and brighter light that the Litra can deliver. When compared to Lume Cube, the Litra produces more light in a larger area than the Lume Cube. The Litra does generate more heat and can be very hot to the touch once on for more than 10 minutes so keep that in mind. The Lume Cube has a plastic housing with rubber surrounding it that makes it very easy to grab and hold while in use if needed. The LITRA is mostly metal housing designed to be a heat sink that will not allow it to be held if needed. This, combined with the larger size, makes the Litra a bit heavier than the Lume Cube; so if weight is an issue, you may want to look at the Lume Cube. The Litra does have two 1/4 20 mounting points compared to the Lume Cube's one, which gives more options for mounting and lighting scenes. They both have magnets in the rear which is a very nice feature and I have used more times that I thought I would. I do plan to purchase more of these LitraTorch 2.0 kits if they offer a similar sale to the deal of the day. 5

[800] I had to shoot a one man job shooting stills and video on a tour bus and knew I would need a constant light that was small, so I could fit it on my dslr cage and it wouldn't interfere with the flash and mic. This little baby was the ticket. I immediately ordered the barndoor attachment because the silicone dome that came with it only softens the light, but doesn't let you manipulate the direction of the light. I found the LitraTorch 2.0 worked very well when about 3-4 feet away in very low light. So on the bus, at night, it helped alot if I was close. I used it a couple times in the daylight hoping to fill in the silhouettes when shooting out a window. It did an acceptable job. Two things to note. It does get very hot when on high for an extended period of time. Secondly, I didn't love the fact that it has only four settings, high, medium, low and blinking. I found this awkward while shooting and going into changing light situations and having to quickly try to click the button to change settings. But, if you know you're gonna leave it on one setting the whole time it should be fine. I think being able to attach it to things magnetically is great. It would probably be wonderful to stick in places to on a set. I didn't get to use it for that purpose, but its a fine little light. 5
