As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.

Short-telephoto prime, this 105mm f/1.4 lens is designed for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 157.5mm equivalent focal length.

Impressively bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Three F Low Dispersion (FLD) and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements are featured in the optical design, and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy.

One aspherical element is used to help limit distortion and spherical aberrations and also contributes to greater overall sharpness and accurate rendering.

Large 105mm-diameter front contributes to improved peripheral illumination in order to reduce vignetting.

A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Nine-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

The integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) realizes quick and quiet autofocusing, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.

The lens is constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material, along with traditional metals, for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations.

The bayonet mount is constructed from brass for ensured accuracy and durability. Additionally, rubber sealing is incorporated in the mount design to render it dust- and splash-resistant.

Protective coating has been applied to the front element and is both water and oil-repellent to aid in cleaning.

Included rotating tripod collar features an Arca-type compatible foot for seamless use atop a tripod or monopod. This collar can also be removed from the lens, and a protective cover takes its place, for more comfortable handheld use.

Lens hood is constructed from a carbon fiber reinforced plastic to remain lightweight yet exceptionally durable.

Q: 2. Hi, I have a Nikon D810 which I bought from your store. I wanted to know if this sigma art lense is fully compatible with my D810?Another question, my family is travelling to Manhattan in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if I could pay from Argentina and have my family pick it up from the store?Thank you!

A: Yes, the Sigma Art 35mm is fully compatible with the D810. Yes, before you come to Manhattan, you can make your order a pick up from the store. Or, if you'd like we can have it shipped to your hotel.

Q: 3. Placing lens on the Nikon D7000, the screen goes black. Is it compatible with D7000?

A: As per the manufacturer, this lens is not compatible with the Nikon D7000.

Q: 4. May is about to end, when will I be getting this lens?

A: Thank you for your interest in Sigma products. The 50mm and 85mm just landed in US and will start shipping very soon. The 35mm will be following those lenses in Mid or late June. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Q: 6. I’m putting this on my Canon 5D MKIV. Do I need to go ahead and purchase the Sigma USB dock?

A: Purchasing the Sigma USB Dock for this lens is a good idea in case you need to adjust the focus settings on your lens or update the firmware.

Q: 7. Will this lens actually ever ship?

A: I find that Sigma is usually very good in getting out their products. This lens evidently had extra work as compared to the Canon and Nikon versions.Since we now have pricing for it, I would say its arrival is imminent. I think between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

Q: 8. I have the 24-70ii lens already for my 6D but I would like to add a prime lens to my kit. I am contemplating the sigma 35 art and the 50 art. I like the idea of adding one of these two because I feel like they can provide a more unique style that my 24-70 can't (bokeh and low light). I also already have the canon 50 f1.8 but although its a good lens for the price, it's not my favorite lens. I like the idea of the 50 for portraits of my daughter but I feel like the 35 is generally more my style because of it's versatility but does that make sense if I already have a 24-70 and I want a good portrait lens? I feel like most people would agree to get the 35 since I already have a 50 but I'd be fine replacing that lens and never using it again. Any advice/input is welcomed. Thank you!

A: Go with the 50mm art lens. Replace your canon. You will love the 50mm art lens and I think your 24-70 can pick up the 35mm look that you want. I have told 2 other photogs about this lens and they agree and have sold their canon 50mms.

Q: 9. I am really torn between getting this great lens or the Nikon 50 f/1.4G. For those of you who really like the Sigma 50, what can you tell me about it specifically that will make me want to buy it over the Nikon 50 1.4G?

A: There are pros and cons. The Nikon 50 is not as sharp and slow focusing, but it can AF in low light. The Sigma is sharper, focus fast but can't AF as well in low light. Maybe 50% hit and miss. Doesn't work will with Nikon flash system too. Also may have issues in movie mode. Maybe the bokeh is better on the Nikon too. I'll get the Sigma for landscape where you manual focus and need sharp images, but I would not use it on important assignments where you have low light situations. The Nikon maybe a better all round lens but i find it out dated.

Q: 10. Can i use all the funtions of the lens on a6000?

A: Yes, it is fully compatible with the Sony a6000.

[0.12x] For the short time I have owned this lens it has not disappointed. Paired with my Z9 it is a pleasure to use, same with my D850, but more so with the Z9 with it's AF tracking and build in camera IS.

[Autofocus] Great lense, well built, sharp out out of the box!!! Superb ratio of quality and price. I don't find this lens heavy - works for me, it's not lightweight piece of glass of course, but for me it's perfect balance. autofocus works great on Canon R5 and Canon 5D Mark IV. Lense have enough speed to track eye even on fast moving dogs.
B&H as always doing great job and fast delivery!

[105 mm (Front)] It's a large heavy lens but the image quality stands for itself. It's wildly sharp and the DOF is what I expected and wanted. If you know what you are getting, you will love this lens. If you pick this up on a whim, you might not be happy as it's not super versatile because of its size and weight.

[0.12x] The last thing you want to lose and have to buy. Sucker is expensive & there really aren't any alternates out there. Sure it's made well and covers an oddball lens diameter size but man, ouch. Sigma is really sticking it to you at this price. It should cost 50 bucks. This amazing lens is still somehow worth replacing it's hood.

[105 mm (Front)] The lens hood for the Sigma 105mm f1.4 ART is a must. A frontal element so big needs protection from not only unwanted light that may cause flares and contrast decrease, but also protection from anything touching it when the cap is off. This lens hood helps for both. Its not cheap, but quality is impeccable.
