Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this product be used with Genie One?

A: Yes. The Syrp 8" Aluminum Turntable Platform can be used with the Syrp Genie One.

Q: 2. Will it hold a big telephoto lens ? One of the photos seem to show a user with a Nikon 200-400mm. I want to use it with a Nikon 300mm f/2.8 If it's not sturdy enough, any other suggestions ? This will not be for video.

A: It is a tool and it's success depends on how you use it. If you do not wish to use tripods or monopods, then try and see if it works for you. The main technique you would have to master is taking in a deep breath, letting out half of it, and then holding still while you shoot. Otherwise, your breathing will be an issue with such a lens. Other techniques is keep your shutter above 300th of a second and use higher ISO for hand-holding your camera.

Q: 3. Will a Nikon D850 or a Nikon Z9 have limited range or are they not compatible at all?

A: Both units will work just fine make sure to have the right shutter cables when using each unit.

Q: 4. Will this work with. Tamron 150-600mm mounted on a Nikon D7200? I shoot BIF and wildlife.

A: The usefulness of this device comes down to personal preference. In the movie business we called it doing whatever it takes to get the shot! From what I see of birders and my own shooting of wildlife, I would recommend you first try using the Tamron lens hand-held, particularly for BIF. If you find yourself tiring or you need to keep the lens to your eye for long periods (on a nest for example) then give this a try and it may be the answer for you.

Q: 5. Is the longest exposure time based on the longest setting of your camera, often 30”, or is there a built in bulb feature that allows longer exposures?

A: The longest exposure time based on the longest setting of your camera and will vary depending on camera brand

Q: 6. How easy is it to go from a landscape position to a portrait position? Otherwise Can a ball head be attached to this to accomplish that?

A: Quite easy. My Nikon long lenses and most others allow the lens to stay fixed to the chest/shoulder pod support and with the release knob on the side of the lens the camera rotates 90 degrees back and forth to both positions. No ball head is needed.

Q: 7. Can this be used with the original Genie?

A: Yes it can

Q: 8. Can you do a 30 seconds exposure using this?

A: I use my PISTOCK-C to support binoculars. Based on that, I very much doubt anyone could hold still enough over 30 seconds to get a non-blurry picture.

Q: 9. Can this be used with the full sized genie + genie mini to perform a pan tilt motion directly from the genie lcd control without using the app?

A: Not that I've found. If you want to do a pan + tilt, you have to use the mobile app. The full size Genie only manages itself. Think of the full size Genie as a slave to the Genie Mini(s).

Q: 10. weight limiT?

A: This is meant for camera set up's weighing up to 8 lbs.

[0.93 lb / 420 g] Under $1000CAD to get into the motion control game. Not too shabby. Easy to use. Build feels pretty decent. Battery is okay and you can power with external banks. Set up is easy. Definitely a good addition to any smaller freelance kit.

[180°] Product is great, material seems very durable for any weather conditions. I only use with one Syrp Genie Mini and have been easily able to switch between Panning and Tilting options. No issues with the sequence causing and shakes - even when I adjust shutter for sunrise/sunsets - but make sure your tripod head is fully tightened as even in move-shoot-move mode I had to adjust the timer release to around 600 ms to led the tripod head I was using settle. I haven't used the Panoramic feature put plan to capture one for a Milkyway shot soon. Some of the outside screws do rattle around when the bracket isn't secured together with a genie mini and tripod, so I could see there being a concern for some of the screws dropping out if there is significant wear and tear to the outside plastic caps.

[0.93 lb / 420 g] This chestpod has made photographing arthropods so much easier for me! Usually, nature won't lend you a hand and give you the perfect platform for propping ones self up for a photo shoot at any given time. This chest pod can be propped against pretty much anything, and it is incredibly lightweight and portable. My only guff with is is the base on which the camera is screwed on, but that's no issue that an additional ball-head cannot fix. Excellent work Novoflex, and thanks to BH Photo for providing (I seriously could not find this chest pod anywhere else)!
