A: The D5500 is DX format. Ive used the filter in an D800 which is FX format. Bur if your lens has a 52mm thread, this filter should work, independent of the format. The Zeiss filters are without peer even if they are no longer manufactured in Germany. These filters are now made in Japan, which is fine. At least they are not yet made in China.

A: The Canon Rebel T3 SLR can be used with circular polarizers, however the lens/lenses you use will determine the specific filter size you need. This particular one is labeled 52mm as the diameter (measurement of line through the center) is 52mm wide. The Canon 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses in this instance both have 58mm sized filter threads to mount filters and lens caps. So this 52mm sized filter is not compatible with those lenses.
