Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this one auto aperture? Looks like there is electric contact on the rear of lens.

A: Yes, Venus Optics Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D Lens features built-in electrical contacts allowing for the adjustment of aperture via the camera body.

Q: 2. I want to mount a graduated ND filter to the front, it is about 3mm thick. Will this cause even more vignetting?

A: A filter would not be the cause of vignetting with the Venus Optics Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D lens. If you use a wide filter holder such as (BH #LEARWA58HK) you should be ok. Keep in mind extreme wide angle lenses will have some degree of darkening at the edges and will be the most pronounced at the widest apertures. This is usually easily corrected in image editing software.

Q: 3. Will this work on a c-mount Bolex H16?

A: yes it will work on a c-mount Bolex

Q: 4. Does anybody have recommendations on a front filter adapter so I can add an ND filter? Something small? Thanks!

A: Sorry, but wide angle lenses need large filters in order that the filter holders are not photographed. B&H does not seem to have a suitable filter holder at this time. However, here is a clamp that may work. http://bit.ly/19azXhK

Q: 5. How does the lens focus? and How is the diaphragm controlled?

A: You adjust the focus and aperture manually. There are no auto functions available.

Q: 6. How to calculate the angle of view parameters?

A: With a 1" Sensor this lens has the following angle of views: Vertical: 79.4° Horizontal: 96.8° Diagonal: 108.4°

Q: 7. Will this work with the Canon RF to EF adapter with ND filter on RED Komodo?

A: The Image for the Entaniya HAL 200 6mm f/4 Fisheye Lens (EF Mount) is a little confusing, as the EF mount lens does not appear like this and will work with the Canon RF to EF ND adapter.

Q: 8. It is compatible with nikon D5600?

A: No it is not compatible with your Nikon camera. This lens offers a C mount often found on industrial and surveillance box type cameras.

Q: 9. Is there a version that works for RED Komodo? What exactly is needed?

A: This lens, the Entaniya HAL 200 6mm f/4 Fisheye Lens (EF Mount), will work on the RED KOMODO along with an RF to EF adapter.

Q: 10. Is the lens weather sealed?

A: No, the Venus Optics Laowa 6mm f/2 Zero-D Lens (Micro Four Thirds) is not weather sealed.

[f/2] Tele Vue eyepieces are among the best available for hobbyist. The design, materials and workmanship are superb. Yes, they cost a few bucks more than other makes, but the buyer is rewarded with clear sharp images and a better experience.

The 6mm Delos is a terrific eyepiece. If you are transitioning from beginner to more advanced user, this eyepiece makes a nice addition to your kit.

Beware---it's a slippery slope. Once you buy in to Tele Vue eyepieces there is no going back to lesser makes.

Clear Skies.

[C] I love this lens! The build quality is top notch, and the focusing is really smooth. I've been using it for astrophotography, and some interior architecture shots, and am delighted with the results. With a lens this wide, I can take night time exposures up to 40 seconds long before having to worry about star trails. Very sharp and the minimum focusing distance is amazing also. Highly recommended!

[Manual] I have the Laowa 10mm which is quite sharp and comes close to the claimed zero distortion, so I was curious about the 6mm. I was skeptical of the YouTube reviews where the guy raves it's sharp as a saber! Only one review, Photoblograper, said the lens was soft in the corners, which would not be suprising for a 6mm.

So...is it sharper than a ninja sword or mush in the corners? To my amazement, it's pretty sharp wide open, totally usable even in the exteme corners--IF--you don't mind the expected loss of corner illumination, aka vignetting. Optimal sharpness seems to be around f/2.8 but for even illumination in the corners, I'd use f/4 or smaller. I happen to like darker corners and often darken them in Lightroom, but that's what I was taught in the Ansel Adams books so maybe that's no longer in fashion.

I need to repeat the test, but it seems image quality dips after f/4, then returns at f/8. Unusual. Zero distorton? No, but pretty close. If you're aware of the incredibly high barrel distortion in most digital camera ultra-wide lenses, you'll realize how impressive it is to get close to zero at 6mm (equivalent to 12mm on full frame).

In short (no pun intended) here's another reason to like m43. A tiny, reasonably priced ultra-wide. Even if you don't use it every day, it won't be a hassle to have with you, just in case.
