Spanning an impressive wide-angle range, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S Lens Refurbishedis an ultra-wide zoom for Nikon's FX-format Z-series mirrorless system. The broad field of view is especially well-suited to landscape, architectural, and astrophotography applications, and the constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains a consistent exposure throughout the zoom range. In regard to the optical design, the lens features four extra-low dispersion elements and four aspherical elements, which reduce a variety of aberrations and distortion to produce imagery with high sharpness, clarity, and accurate color rendering. Both Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings are used, too, to suppress flare and ghosting for greater color fidelity and higher contrast.

Complementing the optics, a stepping motor provides quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override to suit both stills and video applications. A programmable control ring can be set for intuitive adjustment over a variety of camera and exposure settings. Additionally, the lens has a button-less retractable barrel to realize a more compact form factor when not in use.

This is a refurbished item and comes with a 90-day warranty.

Ultra-wide zoom covers a wide-angle to portrait-length range and is designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras.

Constant f/4 maximum aperture affords consistent performance throughout the zoom range and also contributes to the relatively lightweight design and compact form factor.

Four aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

Four extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color rendering.

A Nano Crystal Coat, along with a Super Integrated Coating, has been applied to lens elements to minimize surface and internal reflections for a marked reduction in lens flare and ghosting.

Stepping motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.

Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field techniques.

Exposed elements feature a fluorine coating that affords protection to the optical system against dust, grease, and water droplets.

Dust- and moisture-resistant lens barrel benefits the lens' use in inclement conditions.

Button-less retractable design maintains a compact form factor when the lens is not in use.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is this lens' manual focus compared to a mechanical focus lens?

A: Since it's manual focus, the only difference is the mechanism used--the accuracy and ease of use is the same for electronic or mechanical focusing.

Q: 2. What size filter does the 14-30 take?

A: this lens takes 82mm filters

Q: 3. IS this lens good in low light situation ?

A: I would not classify this lens as a good low light lens. Regarding zoom lenses, an aperture of f/2.8 or faster would be considered a good low light lens.

Q: 4. Can this lens be used with a Z50 as a 21-45 mm equivalent? I realize there would be no VR, and the lens would be large for the camera, but curious.

A: Yes, it will work with the Z50 and yes the focal length would be 21-45mm.

Q: 5. I currently use the NISI V6 filter system with this lens, and when using the CPL and an ND or two combined, there is no vignetting at 14mm. It's great not having to use a 150mm filter system. But the NISI sustem is not as simple to use as others such as the new Haida M10 system. But I don't know whether or not it will vignette with this lens at 14mm. Does anyone have a slide-in filter system other than NISI that works with this lens at 14mm? Thanks

A: Vignetting would be minimal on the Haida. It would depend how close you look and also if the background is lighter or darker. The Nisi V6 and Haida M10 are very similar though, they have differences in the locking mechanism which I believe is what you are referring to, but both are easy to use in my experience once you get used to it. I don't see that it would improve your ease of use much by going to the Haida M10.

Q: 6. Has anyone used this lens for portaits or other situations where you would care about bokeh? I know its mostly a landscape lens, but thinking of getting a 2x adapter and then using it for portraits too.

A: This lens has limited use in portraiture and is not compatible with Nikon's 2.0x teleconverter. Its focal length and f/4 aperture would also limit its ability to diffuse the background / create bokeh.

Q: 7. How long is the warranty?

A: This comes with a one-year manufacturer's warranty from Nikon USA.

Q: 8. When I use this lens at 14mm will I get the full benefit of the 5 axis vibration reduction from The Z6 Nikon Camera. Thanks

A: Yes, VR, works at all focal lengths.

Q: 9. Will this lens work with Nikon d750 or is it only for the mirrorless cameras?

A: This lens only works on the Nikon mirrorless cameras like the Z6 or Z7 and not the D750.

Q: 10. Hi I have the Z6 Nikon camera, in general dose this lens do well with handheld photography?

A: This lens would work very well when shooting hand held with the Z6.

[0.16x] What a great lens, super sharp, colorful and fast autofocus. Light and compact are a big bonus over the heavier and faster 14-24 2.8 S lens.

[Full-Frame] I debated between this lens and the f 2.8. After using it for two weeks, I must say the quality of this lens is extraordinary. it is very well built, and a very high optical quality. Unless you’re a high-end professional with an unlimited budget, I don’t see how the 2.8 is worth the extra thousand dollars. I highly recommend this lens.
