[Yes] This has to be the best micro four thirds in its price range, if not just the best 4k camera in its price range.

If you're looking for something to exclusively shoot 4k video don't waste your time with dslr or mirrorless camera. They're good, but they're just not built for 4k video. In order to get one that performs at this level, you're going to have to spend well over $2,000 for the camera. At $1,500 (the price at the time of this review) this cameral is incredible.

I'm using it with a EF mount and the Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 lens. I also use the Atmos ninja V and an external audio recorder. However, I still record to an ssd through the z cam and I outfit it with a mic for backup. Honestly, the audio and video I get through the z cam are probably good enough for what I'm doing. Other than that I pretty much keep it mounted on a tripod for studio recording. I create teaching videos.

I don't know about how well it performs in variable settings because I can control just about everything I need to. My one criticism is its autofocus. This may have something to do with the EF mount I use. A new EF turbomount is coming out and I'll probably pick that up for about $300 so I can keep using my Canon EF lenses. I may not affect the autofocus, but it should increase exposure and FOV.

Still, this camera meets all my needs and some. If you set up in a studio like I do you won't be disappointed with this camera. Definitely not at this price.

[Yes] I was looking for a camera that would deliver quality slow motion and not have a shallow depth of focus, was easy to use and shoot in ProRes. This camera does that in great fashion, especially when paired with a par focal lens.

[Z CAM E2] The modular design is great, really allows you to customize it to your workflow. The community also provide great tips and information. Plus the company president and staff are active and answering questions.

Biggest downside, the popularity. I’m current unable to use the camera because one part is on back order, with no exact date on when it’ll ship.

[Black] As a BMPCC 4K user, I love this camera. I use it as a Leica-esq street video cam, with a neck strap, and an iPhone monitor. Still learning how to expose correctly for the highest quality color grade in Resolve. Absolutely love the Z Cam FB book group that has already answered every question you may have.

As my BMPCC4K rig has gotten more complex to fix all its shortcomings (battery, screen mostly), the simplicity of the z cam w the wireless iPhone monitor is a breath of fresh air. My BM has become more of a studio/controlled environment cam, while the M4 is my run and gun.

Main flaw - I wish there were an easier was to playback video in the field, as of now, it’s close to impossible with a WiFi connection. Other than that, loving getting to know this camera.
