The Reference Series' waveguide and grille design enhance upper high-frequency response.

The front-firing, dual-flared slot port allows for lower noise and higher bass output for improved bass dynamics.

A full-perimeter brace that joins the top and side panels significantly lessens cabinet vibrations, minimizing cabinet coloration.

The cast chassis woofer provides improved stiffness for both strengthening the front baffle and minimizing chassis resonances.

Oversized ceramic magnets produce high motor strength for powerful bass reproduction.

The top and bottom plates are constructed from low carbon steel for high magnetic conductivity to maximize flux density.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does a Dayton Audio SUB-1000 subwoofer pair with these or not needed for listening to music?

A: I do not see why not. The subwoofer choice is more defined by the size of the room and the the type of music listened to.

Q: 2. Is possible to surface mount these to the ceiling to use as Atmos ceiling speakers? Thanks!

A: No. Wall brackets are included though.

Q: 3. CAN I USE ELAC 2.0 A4.2 HAS REAR ATMOS SPEAKERS FOR dobby speaakers?

A: The ELAC Debut 2.0 A4.2 Atmos Add-On Speakers (Pair), BH # ELDA42BK, may be used for the Dolby Atmos channels.

Q: 4. Is a Onkyo TX-8020 Stereo Receiver good for this set?

A: Yes. These ELAC speakers will perform very well with your receiver: Onkyo TX-8020: 50 watts x 2 (stereo) into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.08% THD

Q: 5. Will these maintain sound quality if placed on their side tweeter to tweeter. I have limited space.?

A: The ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41 Two-Way Active Bookshelf Speakers (Black Ash, Pair), BH # ELDCB41BK, may be placed on their sides, but will sound best with wider high-end dispersion when oriented vertically.

Q: 6. is this a single speaker wire? For 1 or 2 speakers? Other vendors have this as enough for two speakers. BH #ELRSPW10FTP • MFR

A: The ELAC Reference Sensible Speaker Wire with Dual Banana to Banana Connectors (10'), BH # ELRSPW10FTP, is designed for a single speaker input of a negative and positive conductor. Two of these cables would be required for a stereo pair of passive speakers.

Q: 7. What accessory would I need to be able to connect it to my MacBook Pro?

A: The only input type on the Klipsch Reference R-40M Bookshelf Speakers (Pair), B&H # KLR40MBLK, is a binding post pair, which will accept bare speaker wire or speaker wire connected with a banana plug. To connect a MacBook Pro to these speakers, the simplest method would be by using a stereo receiver. You could use speaker wires to connect a receiver like the Sony STR-DH190 Stereo Receiver (B&H # SOSTRDH190) to the speakers, then connect a MacBook Pro to the receiver via Bluetooth or over a 1/8" aux cable from the computer's headphone jack.

Q: 8. Is Yamaha R-N303D Network Stereo Receiver capable of bringing out the best from this pair of speakers?

A: These are very sensitive 6 ohm speakers. The Yamaha R-N303D, while an excellent receiver, is not designed for 6 ohms, and is less than ideal. It can power the speakers, but could conceivably be damaged at high volume.

Q: 9. Is ONKYO CR-N775D Receiver capable of bringing out the best from this pair of speakers?-powerfull enough?

A: The ELAC Debut 2.0 B6.2 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (Pair), B&H # ELDB62BK, can handle a total power input of 120W, which the Onkyo CR-N775D Receiver would not provide in full.

Q: 10. Will Denon PMA-600ne have good enough power to drive the elac debut b62?

A: It sure will.

[2-Way] Couldn't decide if I wanted these or higher cost B & W's but these were well worth it and priced well for the audio quality they provide.

[MDF] The sound, build and finish of these is positively incredible. Listening to my music library, with them powered by the marantz model 30 is like hearing it for the first time all over again.

They have a pleasant roll off on highs, so everything is crisp, but nothing feels piercing. Mids are splendid. The low end leaves a little to be desired for sub bass, but that’s expected from this type of speaker. The lows this does cover are powerful and robust.

The one quirky thing about them, is the feet are not attached. They are little spikes and platters that you rest them on. This means it is *always* a two person job to move the speakers. Not an issue, if you don’t move them often, but I could see that being a problem for some people.

Overall though, I simply cannot recommend these enough. They are fantastic.

[Bass-Reflex] Initially I didn't like it too much.
It had too warm sound for me.

But after I adjusted EQ for it and spent few weeks with it, now I love it.

I made following EQ adjustments:
63Hz, 125Hz and 250Hz - minus 3dB.
And 1kHz - plus 2dB.

And crossovers:
90Hz

I compared it with Paradigm Premier 500C and B&W HTM6 S3.

And I like this ELAC much more.

Paradigm has no energy and dynamics in sound.
And B&W is to sharp for me. Warmer is better than sharper for movies as for me.

Also my wife likes ELAC design. It matches with our new shelf color.

And I took it with 200 USD off on some good sale on B&H.

For 260 USD it is super hard to beat by price/quality.

So, I decided to keep it for my sound system. Movies became much more enjoyable with this center speaker.

I highly recommend it.

[2.2 kHz ] Im putting together a budget stereo system, speakers seemed to be the most important part in that scenario. I did a lot of research, TBH, I havent put a system together in a couple of decades. I came across a YouTube vid about the ELAC B5.2. I read another review online that gave them a very good review. Really good. They were more than I wanted to spend but every review was very positive. They do need to be broken in. What amazes me about them is not the powerful bass for a 5.25 speaker but the clean imaging, the clarity of the stage. Crystal clear and clean highs, non-exaggerated midrange and a strong bottom. Im running them through a 100 w/ch amp, there is plenty of bass. What I am impressed with is how they can expose a badly mastered CD and really shine on a good one. If 250.00 is your limit then you cannot do much better than this speaker system.  I had never heard of B&H Video but took a chance, after I ordered I called them and changed the delivery location to a FedEx delivery location. (Porch pirates). Im impressed at the customer service, I would not hesitate to order from them again.

[2.2 kHz ] If there is a better value in 5” driver bookshelf speakers out there, I’m unaware. The move to bring the port to the front made an already fabulous sounding speaker with smart design (Debut 1.0) even more versatile. Tight, solid low end down to 50-ish Hz. Smooth natural top end. Plenty of SPL for most living rooms and situations. Pair these with a well-tuned sub, and you’ve got a killer full range playback system. They need 20-30 hours of break in time. A great value at full MSRP. I took advantage of the absolute steal B&H pricing at $179. These are my second pair, purchased for my daughter’s small Brooklyn apartment. Could not be more pleased.

[2-Way] Had bookshelf speakers for my HTC, but missed the musicality of my Polk Audios. These are bookshelf size, but are truely as rich as stand alones. For the price range, love to have the sound of music in my room again.
