Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with my old Pentax 500 spotting scope? I currently am using a Meade MA25mm eyepiece.

A: The Pentax SMC XW 10mm Eyepiece (1.25") BH #PEEP10X • MFR #70514 will work with your Pentax 500 spotting scope.

Q: 2. Durability and practicality ?

A: The SMC XF 6.5-19.5 eyepiece is very well made, with high quality optics. I have used my scope in rain and fog without any problems. The actual scope is some kind of durable plastic construction which has held up, especially with the case that allows you to open the front and back and leave the case on for added protection. My ONLY con is the eye relief is real short, I wish I had a little more space, but that being said the view is crystal clear, bright, and detailed. Hope this helps in your decision.Note: the original one I had was stolen in a home robbery and covered by insurance. I could have bought any other brand, and I re-chose getting the Pentax again.

Q: 3. I have a Celestron TrailSeeker 80 spotting scope. It came with its own 8-24 zoom eyepiece. It's fine. But would this different 8-24 eyepiece be an upgrade? Is the quality higher? If so, great. If not, I'll stick with the original.

A: The Celestron 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece (1.25") BH #CEEPZ824 • MFR #93230 is the same eyepiece that comes with the Celestron TrailSeeker 80 20-60x80 Spotting Scope.

Q: 4. Some reviewers say, if you get this eyepiece with PF-65EDA, it doesn't fit into the provided case for the scope. Is that right?

A: The case included with the Pentax PF-65EDAII 65mm Spotting Scope was designed to be used with the open back or fully closed depending on the size of the eyepiece attach to the scope. You would not be able to fully closed the bag when attaching Pentax SMC 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece. The lenght of the case on the outer curve is 16.5''. The case has 2 zippers, 1 will give you access to the tripod mount. The second one will allow access to mount your eyepiece.

Q: 5. will this product be compatible with the NexStar 8se?

A: Have a look at your eyepieces: there should be an internal thread on the end that goes into the telescope focusser. If so the Celestron eyepiece filters will fit, in fact they will screw into most brands of 1.25 eyepieces. However, they will not fit any 2 or the older 0.965 eyepieces. Kind Regards, Ian

Q: 6. Will this fit and focus on a Celestron regal m2 100ed?

A: Yes the Pentax SMC XW 3.5mm Wide Angle Eyepiece (1.25") is compatible with the Celestron Regal series spotting scopes.

Q: 7. Is this eyepiece threaded at 42mm on the top to attach cameras like the XW eyepieces are?

A: The Pentax SMC 8-24mm Zoom Eyepiece (1.25") BH #PEEP2060X • MFR #70509 does no have any threads for additional add on.

Q: 8. What are the eye relief and field of view for this eyepiece?

A: Field of View 60 to 42° Eye Relief 15.0 to 11.0 mm

Q: 9. Hi. Could I attach this to a Nikon D500? If so how can I do it? Thanks.

A: No, this cannot be attached to a DSLR

Q: 10. what magnification can i expect with the pentax pf 80 ed spotting scope?

A: This zoom eyepiece is roughly a 20x to 60x power regardless of the scope it is matched to. A larger diameter objective lens of the scope will allow more light to enter the eyepiece than a smaller diameter lens. The difference will be in image brightness.I have this zoom eyepiece on a 65mm scope which I use for birding and wildlife viewing. The zoom is a big advantage for quickness in locating moving targets, and the smaller scope is light and compact to carry in the field. Larger scopes with fixed focal length eyepieces are advantages in photography.

[3.5mm] With the wide field of view, this eyepiece gives stunning views. Crisp, clear. I own 4 Pentax eyepieces. All of them are excellent.

[70°] I couldn't find fault with this eyepiece, however I bought it for terrestial river viewing. I already had the Pentax XW20 eyepiece and was hoping to be able to see greater detail with the XW14 but that was not the case. To me it seems about the same as the XW20 in resolving fine detail. It will probably get very little use because of the wider field of view of the XW20.

[70°] I bought this eyepiece for my Pentax 65ED II spotting scope. I chose this particular eyepiece after doing a great deal of research and reading numerous reviews. It certainly doesn't disappoint. The images are bright, sharp, color neutral and full of contrast. I am an avid nature watcher and Pentax has gone over and beyond, in my opinion, with this XW eyepiece.

[20.0 mm] Bright image, excellent eye relief, effective exit pupil and very good build quality. I use the 10mm eyepiece with a Pentax 80mm straight spotting scope for viewing planets and other astronomical subjects. Because I wear glasses, the 10mm with its long eye relief is easier to use than the 8 to 24mm zoom. I use the zoom for daytime subjects.

[20.0 mm] This is my second Pentax eyepiece and could not be happier. Long 20mm eye relief and and a huge exit pupil. Its crystal sharp view from edge to edge really make viewing enjoyable. I highly recommend this eye piece and will be getting more from this line of eyepieces.

[1.25"] This eyepiece is used on a 65mm Pentax spotting scope and the 39X power lets me get a much better view of those out of range shorebirds using the SCM WX14mm which =s 27X. The wide angle helps greatly at that distance.

[1.35 lb] I use the eyepiece with a 80mm Pentax scope for long range rifle shooting. This is a large eyepiece but not a problem. The field of view and image sharpness are just super. While I can't pick out individual hits at 1000 yd. I can read the score ring numbers and shot markers like I was standing right in front of the target. I have been able to compare the image quality with a few other scopes used by other shooters and have not seen anything that exceeds the image quality of the Pentax eyepiece.

[3.5mm] Hello, this is my follow up review. After having this eyepiece for a while I have had the chance to compare it back to back with my televise Delites. I like the twist up cap better on the Pentax, I enjoy the larger glass area (afoot) and it has its own distinct look. I recommend this highly and I did decide to purchase the venerable 10 mm.

[1.35 lb] This twist-up eyecup design is the best I've used. The optics are excellent as expected.
