The Rycote InVision INV-6 SOFT Shockmount for Schoeps CMC1, Sennheiser 8000is a shockmount made to hold a Schoeps CMC 1 or Sennheiser 8000 Series (MKH 8040/8050) microphone on a mic stand or boompole while inhibiting handling noise and vibrations. The soft 62-shore Lyres and Hytrel material enable extreme ruggedness, stability, and isolation without using elastic bands or rubber components.

Whether mounted atop a mic stand or a boompole, the InVision INV-6 SOFT is intended for indoor use with a foam windscreen only. Though it is designed for Schoeps CMC 1 and Sennheiser MKH 8040/8050 microphones, it is also compatible with other ultracompact small-diaphragm condenser mics with diameters of 19 to 25mm.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this work with the MKE 600?

A: Yes, the Rycote INV-HG is compatible for use with the Sennheiser MKE 600.

Q: 2. Is this a good choice for the Shure VP88?

A: No, the Rycote INV-7 InVision Microphone Suspension for Stand and Boompole Mounting is not compatible for use with the Shure VP88 Stereo Condenser Microphone. The diameter of the VP88 is 39.7mm at the front, which is the widest part, and 27mm at the cable connection, which is the narrowest part. The INV-7 accommodates microphones that have a diameter of 19 to 25mm. The VP88 already has an internal shockmount that is designed to reduce handling noise and stand vibration, so you could use the stand adapter that comes included with the mic for most applications. If you feel that you need additional isolation, you can try the Rycote InVision INV-HG mkIII Microphone Suspension Lyre Shockmount (B&H # RYINVHGMKIII), which accommodates microphones with a diameter of 19 to 34mm and should work on the handle of the VP88.

Q: 3. Quick question, would this fit well with the Schoeps Colette CMC6 w/MK41 capsule?

A: I am using an older Sennheiser shotgun mic. Per the dimensions listed for each microphone here on B&H, I believe it will fit for you. If for some reason it is not, B&H has fabulous return policies where you shouldn't need to worry about returning the item. The mic clip spreads open manually and holds the mic firmly in place.

Q: 4. Rycote INV-7 Audix SCX1-HC compatibility use? I would like to know if someone here with the experience using it with the Audix can tell me how the mod was done and later how the shockmount is being used. Some people says that reattaching the lyre to the middle position could cause the microphone to receive sonic reflections from the excess length of the base carrier and the other way around is using the mount backwards. I would like to hear more commentaries about this before making a decision. Thank you.

A: You have the wrong mount for the mic you are using. The Audix SCX-1 is 4.09" / 104 mm. The Rycote mount you have is for mic's that are longer than 120mm.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Rode VideoMic Pro Compact shotgun?

A: I've only used it with my Sennheiser 416 Shotgun Mic, but if you find the diameter of the Rode is the same then the answer yes. This is an EXCELLENT shock mount. I wouldn't have any other.

Q: 6. Does somebody have first hand experience with how well this mount tackles handling noise when used with a Schoeps CMC641 with colette cable?

A: This Rycote should work well. The build quality is excellent. We have not tested the Rycote with this Schoeps mic.The mount below is designed specifically for this mic and may be the best choice:Schoeps A 20 S Elastic Suspension Swivel Shock Mount (Stiffer Elastic) B&H # SCA20S

Q: 7. Does this shock mount include a shoe adapter so that I can mount my mic on top of my DSLR?

A: No, It just has a 3/8 thread unfortunately.

Q: 8. Can this be attached to the Rycote Softie pistol grip?

A: The Rycote INV-7 InVision Microphone Suspension can't work with the Rycote Softie Pistol Grip, because the flange is the wrong size. If you want a lyre mount with the pistol grip, check out BH #RYLMPG.

Q: 9. Would the INV-4 be the ideal shock mount size for the Audix 1250BHC?

A: Audix recommends their SMT-MICRO Shock Mount Stand Adapter (B&H# AUSMTMICRO) for use with the M1250B-HC and other Audix Micro Series microphones. Additionally, the SMT-MICRO is an item that we stock while the INV-4 is only available by special order and is not returnable.

Q: 10. Will this accommodate a Rode NT4 stereo mic? Also, what pistol grip is recommended for this shock mount?

A: I bought mine for a Sennheiser MKH416.. don't know if it'll work with a Rode NT4.

[62 Shore] I already bought 2 Rycote INV6HG's about 1.5 years ago, and loved them. However, when I bought 1 INVHG-mkiii recently and got to use it, I fell in love with this shock instantly! Much sturdier/beefier than my INV6HG's even are, and now I am selling my INV6HG's and buying a 2nd INVHG-mkiii ASAP lol. So if you want the best shock made, Period, just buy this first, and thank me later ;)

[7.5 x 6 x 2.5"] I purchased this mount to hold my Sennheiser 416. It works better than expected. At first, the mount feels too light for the mic and I was worried it would hold the weight but it does. The clamp that holds the mic in place has just the right amount of tension and I have had zero issues. The mic just floats in place and the mount eliminates the noise you get with a traditional mic clip. I definitely recommend this if you have a 416 or similar mic.

[Hytrel] Bought these to use with my newly acquired Sonorous Objects SO.101 and SO.103 microphones, and they fit well. I am using a normal length XLR connector, but a shorty might fit as well.
