The ART USB IV 4x4 USB Audio MIDI Interfaceis a 4-input / 4-output USB audio/MIDI interface offering high resolution, user-friendly functionality, and a compact footprint for songwriters, beatmakers, and musicians in personal, mobile, and project studios. It features four XLR-1/4" combo inputs with low-noise mic preamps and selectable phantom power—the first two support mic/Hi-Z signals, while the last two accommodate mic- or line-level signals.

The USB IV utilizes 32-bit A/D-D/A converters to deliver accurate audio quality at sample rates up to 192 kHz. Outputs include stereo 1/4" main outs and a 1/4" headphone port with independent level controls and separate audio feeds—great for sending to monitors and a dedicated cue mix. The 5-pin MIDI I/O sockets on the rear panel allow easy hookup to external MIDI equipment such as a keyboard, synth, or sound module.

A front-panel switch for input monitoring lets you listen to the input signal with low latency and no routing required. Custom transformers are utilized to inhibit system noise and ground loops for quiet, quality performance. The included Cubasis LE software is a digital audio workstation that provides recording, editing, and mixing functions, perfect for getting started on your own musical creations.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Good Day, can I simultaneous record 4 channel?

A: The only way to use 4 channels at the same time with this interface is to add the adapter in the link bellow https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/981648-REG/zoom_exh_6_dual_xlr_trs_input_capsule.html

Q: 2. Can I use 2 different pairs of speakers, either interchangeably (A/B comparison) as well as all 4 speakers at the same time?

A: The Arturia MiniFuse 4 Portable 4x4 USB Type-C Audio/MIDI Interface does have four analog outputs, which could conceivably be routed to four different speakers, but it does not have any switching controls. For A/B comparison between multiple speakers, you would really want to use a monitor controller.

Q: 3. Does this result in 32-bit float or integer PCM recordings? Steinberg/Yamaha interfaces result in 32I, causing compatibility problems.

A: This is a floating point device.

Q: 4. Can I power this using an external power supply, so that I can avoid using batteries?

A: Yes, in addition to operating with two AA batteries for power, the Zoom U-44 Portable 4x4 USB Handy Audio/MIDI Interface can be powered via USB bus power or by using a USB battery pack or with a 5V USB wall plug like you would use to charge a smartphone or tablet, and USB cable connected to the micro-USB port on the U-44.

Q: 5. Does this come with the EXH-6 attachment? The description is confusing. It says 4 inputs but the base unit only has 2, but allows for the EXH-6 attachment to get 4.

A: The U-44 does not include the attachment for the extra two microphone channels. I have not purchased that to try yet, but the connector on the bottom of the unit works with the microphone that comes with the H6. I think those are the same type of Zoom microphone connector standard.

Q: 6. Does this record in true 32 bit float?

A: This has a depth of 24 bit, and does not have a 32 bit float.

Q: 7. Does this record to SD as well?

A: No. This is strictly an interface to your computer or iOS device.

Q: 8. Is this iOS compatible?

A: According to MOTU, this audio interface is iOS compatible (USB audio class compliant), but it would need an Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter, BH #APMK0W2AMA to convert the signal and to power the interface.

Q: 9. I have a rodecaster, and I want to be able to feed Zoom audio during my livestream out USB, into this box, out through the TRS, and into a mic input on the Rodecaster. Will that work?

A: Yes you can do that. I am not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but if you are trying to allow communication between the mics connected to the Rodecaster Pro and Zoom; a much simpler solution would be to connect the Rodecaster Pro to the computer that you are using Zoom on via USB and then go to Preferences--- Sound and select the Rodecaster Pro as your audio input/output device for the computer. From there, anyone using mics connected to the Rodecaster Pro should be able to communicate with the caller(s) that you have on Zoom.

Q: 10. If I have line 1/2 with microphones, could I connect a music line from another computer? Where?

A: Line level signals can be connected to the interface, back panel; inputs 3/4.

[USB Bus Power] Up until now, I could connect either a USB-audio headphone OR a USB-compliant MIDI keyboard to my USB-C iPad via a wired connection, but not both. This meant that one of the two – keyboard or headphone – had to be connected via Bluetooth. This is usually not a problem except when trying to record a live performance, where Bluetooth latency is frankly unacceptable.

With the MiniFuse, however, both the keyboard and the headphone attach to the interface, and a single USB-C cable connects to the iPad. I have so many neat synth and other music creation apps on there that I can finally use live! This is HUGE for me.

Note that the MiniFuse 4 supports up to 500 mA keyboards via its USB-hub, so long as it's plugged in, whereas the MiniFuse 2 supports only up to 250 mA devices, which cuts out most external USB-compliant MIDI keyboards. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain to have to plug the MiniFuse 4 to a wall socket to make it all work, but that's still just a single wire.

Oh, also, I've connected some synths to the audio inputs, and I've been running both the headphone and main Audio outputs, as well as the loopback interface both with the iPad and my mac, and it all works and sounds fantastic. The manual takes a bit of careful reading to understand the possible routings (for me at least, I'm a newbie at this) but it's well written and I was able to figure it out pretty quickly.

I didn't know I needed it, but now that I have the MiniFuse, I can't imagine not having it as the central hub to my synthesizer setup.

[1x USB-B] This Zoom U-44 is AMAZING. Perfect in many ways especially in the ability to use the Zoom mics directly connected to it.
You can’t just purchase it... tell your friends!! I did.

[110 dB ] There's more that one Zoom out there. The U-44 solved my problem with the the iMac 10.15.5 audio anti-feedback system that caused this old guy (with hearing loss) getting headphone signals of both incoming and outgoing audio during video conferencing. USB connection to the computer, no added drivers or apps needed. I use the U-44 with a phantom-powered Shure lavalier mic (A-D in) and any of several headphones (D-A out). No audio delay and adequate gain. Handy indeed.

[4] Zoom comes through again. I have over the years purchased many audio interfaces from Roland Tascam Edirol and Cakewalk also Zoom. I must say Zoom is by far way ahead of the others in producing a low cost high quality interface for the home recording industry. I do a fair bit of traveling and on leaving town this time I forgot to pack an interface for my stay. As a rule I would carry a Zoom R8 or R16 or one of the other portables I have. I elected to order a Zoom U-44 from B7H and I'm happy I did. Their service was prompt and shipping was without an issue. I received my product on time as promised. With regard to the Zoom U-44. I'm really pleased with this unit to say the least. I has Win 10 x64 and x32 drivers. Its both an analog and digital unit. Best of all it can be used stand alone as a preamp using battery power. The U-44 sound quality is exceptional and I would say equal to their R8 and R16 units. This unit works well with all my DAWs including Sonar Reason Fl Studio Reaper etc. One thing I must say that Zoom has going for it is continued driver support. Again I have several Zoom units and all have Win 10 drivers available. Wish I could say that for my really expensive Roland and Novation equipment great gear but short support life. I recommend this unit for anyone wanting a good quality audio midi interface with digital ins and outs. It is really great bang for my buck. John, Home Studio Producer
