[Optional] This stand is rock solid. It is perfect for raising and lowering booms and other heavy lights/mods in a safe and controlled manner. Compared to lifting 50+ lbs over head height, this is much safer.


The only downsides are the large size when folded, the heavy weight for transporting, and the sharp corners on the legs and bolts.


The large size and weight are understandable for a stand with this capacity, just something to keep in mind. The sharp edges on the feet and bolts are unfortunate, and just something to watch out for when using, transporting, or storing. It's very easy to damage a floor or vehicle interior with this stand.

[3] This stand is quite large and heavy. It's honestly a bit more than what I would like but I wanted a windup stand that would support a large boom and where both risers went up via the crank. If this was 2/3 the size that it is, it would be perfect and work much better for location work. Still, it's a great stand and does exactly what it's designed to do so it get's 5 stars. I won't be taking it on location unless there is very definitive need and I have a couple strong dudes to wrangle it.

[Optional] Super sturdy and very needed if you are lifting heavy stuff. Is very heavy itself, so definitively you'll need the optional wheels.

[Optional] Super solid and heavy. Smooth crank operated lifting up and down - even with a Monfrotto Mega Boom loaded at 90 pounds. The wide base provides great support. I recommend the Manfrotto 104G Braked Wheel Set for Cine Stands (sold separately). Big wheels make positioning the stand on a hard surface really easy - even fully loaded.

[Black] I bought 1 of these when I bought the Kupo big boom. I didn't want to lift the boom by hand like I have been doing. I haven't received the boom yet but put my large parabolic on it. I got to love the crank up. It's awesome. So, I bought a second one and have an avenger boom on it. It's that good.

Only thing I wish is it had a wider base.

Wheels are a must have. I also have the impact weights on each leg.

The Kupo clamp won't fit the main section either so hanging a power pack off it has to be done a different way.

I'm planning on more crank stands.

[3] This heavy duty stand, with casters, rarely leaves my studio. A Manfroto 425B Mega Boom is mounted to it, along with a Mola Setti beauty dish. This combination works perfectly in safely positioning the Mola Setti close to portrait subjects without getting a traditional lightstand in the way. Expensive, heavy, but does the intended job.

[48.86 lb] Very well built. This will save me from lifting heavy loaded booms. The only regret is it pretty darn heavy. It's no fun lifting in and out of my van but worth the trouble. I don't have to sell my self short on how to light something with this on location.


Make sure to get the Kupo 100mm Brake Caster 30mm Square (Set 3) because B&H didn't have it in the accessories section at the time of my purchase.

[Optional] Very sturdy high roller.
Love the safety mechanism that prevents it from coming down.
Heavy but that is what you need if you are trying to use expensive/heavy equipment on top of it.
The price difference with others that come with wheels is hundreds of dollars.

[Optional] I have been using C-stands to hold an HMI Light and/or a backlight on an arm. This was a 2 person job and not particularly safe. This stand makes raising heavy lights easier and much safer. It is rock solid- you really can stand on the built-in step to make adjustments. It is quite heavy so use a dolly or 2 people to haul it. Definitely recommend getting the optional wheels.
