I checked with the plate mfr, Really Right Stuff, and the only solution is to slide the camera onto the plate up to the plug. The camera is secure, but you're not at midpoint which is annoying if you're working with a specific composition. The intervalometer seems to be well made. i thought the instructions were inadequate, but anyone familiar with how these work, will do fine. Some things I'd like to figure out: how to turn off the beeping, and how to turn off the bright green light on the receiver. Both of these can be annoying to other nearby photographers if you're shooting the night sky.
