Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the camera offer eye/head auto focus tracking when using the OVF?

A: The Eye AF is only through the LCD.

Q: 2. I was ready to make a change to Canon after being out of the game for a few years-previous Nikon user-maybe getting a robust DX mark ii at a better price, some great Canon glass too. This was before the Sony a1 arrived. For getting back into the game, even if I have the funds for an a1, is it still reasonable to shoot DSLR for birds, wildlife and landscapes? Or is mirrorless gear already so good it makes sense to just make the switch now? Once I jump into a brand, I do not plan on making a change. I thought I would ask DX iii shooters as you have an appreciation for the track record and robust build of excellent Canon bodies and glass, and have not yet made the mirrorless jump. I am not drawn to the R5 at this point-would rather go DX if I go canon at this point. Thank you so much for any advice!

A: The answer to both of your questions is "yes." It is still reasonable to use the Canon EOS 1D X Mark III for action photography such as capturing birds in flight, wildlife, and landscape photography. Also, many mirrorless manufacturers are in their second and third generation of mirrorless camera designs (with Sony even further ahead due to timing), and they have awesome cameras that are good with capturing action as well as landscape photography. The Canon EOS R5 is a high resolution 45 megapixel camera with built-in image stabilization, an articulating LCD screen, much higher autofocus point count as well as Animal Eye AF tracking and Eye Tracking Focus, has an higher video resolution, as well as being smaller and lighter than the 1D X Mark III. However, the 1D X Mark III has a much higher maximum ISO range, larger individual pixels, and nearly 9 times the battery life per charge, as well as a much larger library of native lenses. Both are very good camera options. While the Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera would have the edge in terms of landscape photography, for action and sports usage needs, you should have no issues with choosing the 1D X Mark III for your usage needs.

Q: 3. does this have c-log?

A: Yes, it does offer Canon Log Gamma.

Q: 4. Will this have a built-in intervalometer?

A: The camera does not have a intervalometer. Canon makes one if you need the function of one https://bhpho.to/2vySqFT.

Q: 5. Fit to 1dx mark2??

A: No, it would not. The Canon EOS 1D Mark II N DSLR camera has a 2.5-inch LCD screen; the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II DSLR camera has a much larger 3.2-inch LCD screen, and cannot use the same screen protector. The Giottos Aegis Professional M-C Schott Glass LCD Screen Protector for Canon EOS 5D Mark III / 1D X, B&H # GILSPC5D, would be the correct LCD screen option for your needs.

Q: 6. Will Dual Digic 6+ Processors be used or will they be upgraded from the 1DXMKII?

A: This camera uses the Digic X processor.

Q: 7. Does the EIS work as dual IS with in lens stabilisation?

A: Yes, they work together.

Q: 8. Does the built in Wi-fi support FTP transfer?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 9. Will it shoot 4k60 without a crop with manual focus, and if so, with what codec?

A: It does not crop in 4k60, it is manual focus only, codec is MP4/H.265.

Q: 10. Does this L-Bracket work with the Canon WFT-E9A Wireless File Transmitter?

A: The Really Right Stuff L- Set for Canon EOS-1D X Mark III will work with the Canon WFT-E9A Wireless File Transmitter

[Plastic] I have never had a DSLR camera that did not have the display screens protected. This keeps the display surface completely protected from scratches and so on.

[0.035 lb] I have installed many of these protective films from various manufacturers on smart phones and cameras over the years, with very few problems. I could not get the Expert Shield film to lay flat on a Canon EOS 1DK Mk III; there was always a large bubble in one corner. I contacted Expert Shield customer service, and included a photo of the problem. They responded quickly with further suggestions on the installation process, and also sent me another complimentary set of new shields, in two different sizes for the large rear LCD. The larger size shield does fit the 1DX Mk III rear LCD properly, but the tolerances are slim so positioning has to be perfect.  Kudos to Expert Shield for their excellent support!

[Dry Adhesion] I applied this to my new camera before I even read the camera manual; a good idea so that the LCD screen does not need cleaning before application. The protector is very easy to apply and does not in any way affect touch screen sensitivity or brightness. Once applied, is disappears and looks as if it is part of the standard camera. Cannot recommend this highly enough.

[Plastic] My now obsolete Canon 5D MkII’s are still in mint condition. l’ve been lucky that the LCD screens are still like new. So, since I want them to remain that way, I bought the Expert Shield overlays. Took awhile to get them because they probably don’t make as many as they once did. The kit comes with a piece that installs on the readout screen. Installing the shields requires a steady hand and getting any dust away is equally important. But once done, these give an added measure of protection.

[0.035 lb] After trying to find a hard screen protector with a good fit, I gave up and decided to try this flexible one. It is easy to install, with fine clarity, and fits my K-50 screen perfectly.
