Q: 1. Can I use this cable on Pix-e7 for power cable? Can't find any 4 pin Hirose connector in the back of the e7 monitor

A: No, this is the power cable for the Pix 220/240 modlels only. You need a locking DC Coaxial power cable barrel connector to 4-pix XLR if yiu need to use the large battery packs. A better solution is to use the newer smaller D-Tap batteries and use the Pix accessory, Video Devices Coaxial DC Plug to D-Tap Power Cable , listed under Pix E power accessories. Yiu could also take the Pix connector end off your AC power brick, and have a 4-pin XLR connected to it, and the female 4-pin XLR connected to the brick side (where you cut the coaxial connector off), so yiu can still use the AC power supply. If yiu are not familiar with how power cables are wired on XLRs, get a A/V repair service to do this for you. The 4-pin power XLR connectors only use two pins, (not all four at the same time) one set is for 6-VDC connections and the other two are for 12-14 DC connections. You need to meter the connector on your battery pack to see which two and the correct polarity (which pin is + and which is ground/negative connectors. A warning, if you get this wrong, and you will fry you PixE power board in the monitor.

Q: 5. What have people found is an average charge time using the Sound Devices L-series Battery Charger?

A: In general, charging times vary greatly for it depends on the amount of discharge, the charger and things like ambient temperature. With a fully discharged battery you should minimally consider 1-2 hours, maybe 3-4. In time you will get a feel of how long. Keep in mind generally when a battery takes longer to charge it will work longer. Generally batteries that charge from a fully depleted state in a few minutes last only a few minutes. That is because they are at end of life since the chemicals inside are exhausted and thus the battery will accept only a small charge.

[0.03 lb] I bought this for use with the MixPre-10T and while I know a lot of location audio is run off batteries, the AC option should be included as a standard item. I love Sound Devices products and can see some rational for not bundling it, but when you buy an item that out of the box can only be powered by AA batteries I think the al a carte approach needs to be rethought for certain items.
