Q: 1. I have a Polaroid 690, and the original discontinued Polaroid film created gorgeous vibrant color saturated and sharp images. Every re-release of the Polaroid film I've tried over the years claims "authentic" Polaroid color, but it's just washed out and shifted to green/yellow. Does this film really live up to original gorgeous Polaroid color?
A: The following is a reply listed on the manufacturer's website in their "Information" (FAQ) section: When Polaroid wound down their analog instant photography business in 2008, a number of chemical suppliers that existed solely to provide Polaroid with chemistry for film production went out of business. And over the course of the last decade some of the chemistry used in film production became unavailable for commercial use. The Impossible Project faced the challenge of reinventing analog instant photography with the chemistry available, and over the past nine years has been gradually improving the processing and quality of instant film. So while we still aren’t back at the 5 minute development time (yet!), that you may remember from back in the day, the new Polaroid color film is the best to come out of the Enschede factory since Impossible took it over in 2008 - with improved sharpness and definition, development time down to 15 minutes and the same quirky, magical Polaroid aesthetic that people have always loved.
Q: 2. This is listed as a "new release." How does it differ from what appears to be the same product called Polaroid Originals? Will both work with my 40 year old SX70 Camera?
A: This film has better color and contrast, yes it will work with your SX70.
Q: 3. I would like to know the fabrication date, what is it?
A: Unfortunately, this information is not published by the manufacturer.
Q: 4. Is there any Instax film I can put in a Hasselblad Polaroid bag by any chance? Kind of like Fujifilm fp100c....
A: The Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film (5-Pack, 40 Exposures) is not compatible with the Hasselblad Polaplus 100 Polaroid Film Magazine. This film back only takes instant peel-apart film or pack film, which has all been discontinued. Also, there are no Instax film types that can replace it.
Q: 5. Is this the same film that the emulsion can be manipulated for several minutes after exposure, and doesn't dry too quickly?
A: No, it is not like the original film of years ago. You can not move the emulsion around.
Q: 6. Is this capable with Supercolor 635CL?
A: No, the Polaroid Color SX-70 Instant Film is not compatible for use with the Polaroid Supercolor 635CL Instant Camera. If you need a compatible option, the Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film (8 Exposures), B&H # PO600CLRFILM, would instead be recommended for your usage needs.
Q: 7. will this work on a Polaroid Sun 660 camera?
A: Yes. The Polaroid Sun 660 uses 600 film.
Q: 8. Can this Polaroid 600 film pack be used in a Mamiya RB67 pro S model II Polaroid film back ?
A: I am sorry the Polaroid Color 600 Instant Film does not fit into a Mamiya RB67 pro S model II Polaroid film back. The last to make film that fit was by Fujifilm and it is discontinued.
Q: 9. On the website, Polaroid claims I can run 600 film in an SX-70 with the the flash. Is this true?
A: While I am not certain what you might've read, it is likely the opposite, as 600 film is much more sensitive to light than SX70 film (ASA 640 vs 160). Polaroid themselves recommend an ND filter for SX70 cameras using 600 film so as to not overexpose the 600 film: https://bit.ly/3Jc2aXr
Q: 10. Is this similar to Polaroid Type 667 film originally used in the Model 100 Polaroid Land Camera?
A: No, the Polaroid Black & White 600 Instant Film (8 Exposures) is not compatible for use in cameras that used Polaroid 100 Film in their Model 100 Polaroid Land Camera. Unfortunately, there is no replacement for the now-discontinued Polaroid 100 peel-apart instant film such as the 667 Film..
